The reason I say I'd like to have them not start threads is because the volume of threads gets ridiculous when big releases are about to come out. The same threads get posted over and over because people are too lazy to go search 2 or 3 pages back to see if the question/comment has already been asked/mentioned.

How many times was there a "I can't get QB pressure" thread created on the NCAA forum? My point exactly.

I dont believe in any kind of probation crap or anything like that, but it does seem like rookies are starting to take over the madden forums. Its slowly but surely starting to look more and more like maddenmania, IGN, and other sites like that.

Those kind of people are always here leading up to the release of a new game and for a little bit after it comes out, then they disappear until next year.

I think you're right, and I think the merger with MaddenMania is contributing to that majorly.

I think its jsut NCAA and Madden, alot of the other sites are gone or absorbed (MaddenMania, Maddennation etc) so they google NCAA forums or something, come here, and stay for a week or two and vanish.

It clutters up the forum, but i do enjoy scrolling through threads and counting the infractions

I thought I was the only one..."Guess the infraction" is becoming a favorite of mine. Most of em are pretty easy, but "Trolling" and "Insulted other members" are hard to distinguish sometimes.

Well, I would have agreed with this post a couple weeks ago when NCAA came out, but I had calmed down a little. I enjoyed having Madden early because I could read the Madden boards without having to sift through much drivel. But now that Madden is out to the masses, I have to go back to agreeing with this. 500 posts may be a little extreme, but I'd say 200 would be a good number before someone starts posting and people who whore it up to get to that level should have their post count reset. To me its not a holier than thou attitude. Its a matter of being sick and tired of going through thread after thread about someone saying they like/hate the game and they haven't been here long enough to realize that's what the stickies are for.

I say there should be two ways to gain the ability to start a thread.

a) 500 posts w/o an infraction.

or

b) Donate.

I say we don't give out infractions for making fun of people who start stupid threads and then the problem will take care of itself.

Much like a donators-only board that was suggested a while back, I fathom to guess this won't happen (though the line of reasoning between the two is a tad bit different, IMO it boils down to the fact that it is not the purpose of the forums to exclude anyone from the discussion in any way, shape, or form, regardless how well-formed or thought-out a person's thoughts are).

Damn at 500 I would have been here 4 years before I got to make a thread. But then again that wouldnt have really mattered because I dont post much anyway. So go ahead and make that rule fine with me.
