    Re: Anyone Had A Vasectomy?

Now, they're going to ask you to shave your groin area before the procedure. The doctor actually asked me....."Do you know where your goin area is?". I told him I had a pretty good idea, but he laughed and said that I would be surprised where people shaved themselves before the surgery. Some all the way down to their knees, lol.

Look, this is a simple procedure. It IS quite reversible and I have a friend who had it reversed after 20 years. Now the likelihood of that being successful is diminished after such a long period of time, but it can be reversed.

This procedure has absolutely ZERO to do with performance. The only thing that will be missing is those little fish inside the river that swim around, everything else is the same. There is still a river, if you know what I mean. When they say "shooting blanks" they just mean the fish, not the raging river.

I should write a kiddies book.

I never thought of going through with this procedure, but I can understand the "no kids" feeling.

I have said I do not want kids since I was a kid. I still do not plan on having any. I leave the door open, possibly deciding that someday I'll let a lucky woman bear my child, but she may not be my wife and the entire thing will be planned.

Kids, sure, parents say they are great, and good for you guys, but I don't want those germ carrying, mucus-infested, annoying, little brats running around my house unless they belonged to my sister or brother.

I'm 32 years old and have a son that turns 1 on Tuesday. Being a father is the greatest feeling in the world to me. Until you actually have a child, you honestly have no idea. Having a child and being a great father is an achievement. It doesn't take a man to get someone pregnant, but it does take a man to accept that responsibility and to be a good father. I think that's an achievement.

No, let them make their decision to not have kids. Didn't Darwin talk about something like that?

I give a lot of respect to men who do their job the way that they should. Although I feel that all fathers need to follow your example, that just isn't a reality a lot of the time. I'm sure creating a child and being there to watch their journey through life is an amazing thing. I know if I had a child that I would love it and be a great father. I have no doubts about that. However, one mans idea of happiness is not always another's. There are many things that I want to do during my time here and raising a child isn't one of them. I'd much rather be able to spend my days helping the community, working on personal goals, and come home to a quiet home at the end of the day.

There are a lot of reasons why I don't want to have children. I already feel like I've gone through parenthood with my little sister. Being there to watch her make mistake after mistake and put the family through hell has been more than enough for me. I also think a lot about the future. This world is an ugly place and I don't see it getting any better. What will Earth be like 200 years from now? Do I really want future generations to have to deal with those problems? Life is unpredictable, but this is one thing that I like to have some control over. Raising children isn't a job that you can quit.

Spare me. There are people who die everyday and never have the chance to have children. I'm simply making it a concious decision. The species will continue regardless.

I would wait until my 30's too...as you get older some of you views on life change. I just wouldn't want you to regret it later down the road.

                      Good catch, though.

Actually, can I take the approach that I left my name logged in the public library and someone else posted for me, or has that already been used far too many times?
