The genius is in hearing him discuss the day to day occurances happening in the world and understanding and appreciating how fast his mind works. Believe it or not, more than any other formal test, you can see the intelligence of a person based upon how he or she speaks. That is actually the most accurate gauge of genius in my opinion (second only to tangible production of things, and he has quite a resume on his plate). Again, it is a radio show full of people TALKING, so if you want to do run downs that is fine but there is a reason it lasts for four hours. There is more to the show than what you can fit on a single website page. We aren't living in a post Howard Stern or Technological era you know. It is very easy to go on youtube or other sites and actually HEAR good portions of the show. If you are making the effort to look at written rundowns why not take that final leap and treat yourself to a listen. What a concept that is, actually formulating an opinion based on observing something through the medium of which it was intented to be broadcast.
You can call him genius to your hearts content and he may be, I have no way of knowing and honestly don't care.

And why don't I treat myself to a listen? Because as I stated, though you quoted before I added it in(forgot previously) I have no desire to listen to any of it. I don't care if for 15 minutes, he's the most distinguished man on radio, discussing whether a midget has a neck or listening to him commentate about a man who is "painting with his ***" is not something I'm willing to listen to. I'm sorry.

You can say my opinion isn't valid because I don't acutally listen to the show all you want. The fact is that I can view what his topics are and decide that its not something I am willing to sit through.

I'm not saying that people who listen to his show are "simpletons". Just stating the reasons as to why I choose to not listen to his show.

Actually, you have every way of knowing and if you don't care enough than that's fine, just don't expect people to take you seriously when you try to dispute something you know little about other than what is on the very processed surface. It seems very easy for someone to judge a book by its cover, with the cover being lazy journalism (as was the case of this thread) or any other hot story served with a spin. But, for people to laugh or strongly dispute someone for calling the show brilliant or Stern a genius without having heard the show himself, that is absolutely criminal and represents laziness and ignorance in its more pure form.

So is anyone going to produce a link confirming that Stern is actually a genius or are we taking your word for it?

Because after using Google a few times, I still can't find anything about it.

First and foremost, I don't appreciate being insulted just because my opinion of Howard Stern's show is different than yours.

Second, I just told you that I don't care if Stern is a genius or not. It makes no difference to me. I don't care to look for it. If he's a genius I won't listen to his show. If he isn't a genius, I won't listen to his show.

And finally, if you'd had read my posts carefully, you'd see that I've listened to his show before. Not recently no, but I have listened to Stern's show. And judging from his own website, its my opinion that his shows today share the same "formula" as his shows did back then. I am not disputing that he doesn't have serious or somewhat entertaining segments, but with the other things mixed in that I've mentioned before, I don't care to listen to him.

I'm sorry that I choose to not to listen to someone's radio show that you highly admire. I truly am. You said that everyone here who was not entertained by Stern's show are doing so with baseless opinions or by 3rd party info. I used his site as a reference and my own personal experience with his show as to why I choose not to listen to him. I'm not knocking anyone who does, just giving you my non-baseless opinion. I don't know why that gets you so bent out of shape.

Let me ask you this. Have you ever watched a show for a few moments and turned it off, or listened to a song on the radio for a few moments and switched over because you didn't care for it?

Or how about this, do you enjoy the music of George Strait?

I am not insulting you in any way shape or form. I am simply stating that I find it ignorant when people have such disproportionately strong feelings towards something based off of limited knowledge. I don't care if you like him or if you hate him, but your opinion should be consistent with your knowledge of him. George Strait? I have never heard his music therefore I can say absolutely nothing about him. Have I seen a tv show that looked bad and changed the channel? Of course but I don't go on an internet forum and declare- "this show sucks, this show is horrible" the next day. I would simply say- "The show looked bad from the limited look I gave it." Aka, expressing an opinion that matches the amount of time invested.

                  You win partner, I'm done.

For the record, I never once said that Stern's show "sucked" or is "horrible". All I said was that its not something that I'm willing to listen to. Its not my cup of tea. The only reason I kept providing examples is because you keep harping on this limited knowledge thing. Well, we all at one time or another, form an opinion based off of limited knowledge of something, its called human nature. And again, I have listened to Stern's show. And again, its not something that I find entertaining, distinguished, or "deep". I know, call me foolish.

I'm sorry that I offended you by not "choosing" to listen to Howard Stern's show or at least give it another listen. And I'm sorry if you felt that I "insulted" someone that you obviously hold in high regard.

                  Enjoy his shows!

Arrived here late, came to defend Stern (as he has as much to do with this as Leno does with whatever his guests are involved with)...but it's over.

                        Oh well...

Stern's show is still the only form of entertainment outside of football, soccer, rugby and hockey that I consistently find myself returning to. If Arrested Development were still on, that would be added to the list.

I'll say that it has gotten weaker, but even Stern's weakest is stronger than most.
The line must be drawn HERE! This far, no further!

He has to be taken at his word. I did the same thing you did I went to Google searched and couldn't find anything saying he was. Even Stern's Wikipedia page said nothing about it only that he graduated with a 3.8 from college, while that's quite impressive it's far from genius.

I've listened to Stern's show, I've watched him when it was broadcast on TV(don't remember the channel) and I just don't get him. Maybe he has a genius mind, but it would be nice if he'd put it to better use. Exploiting women and ******s in an attempt to gain an audience is not someone that I care to listen to, and certainly is someone who doesnt' promote himself as a man with a genius mind as you state.
To their credit, Stern fans are passionate and loyal, almost too much at times.

I've tried to listen to him quite a few times. Sometimes I can listen for a decent amount of time, but at others I just have to turn it off cause I'm cringing too much from how unfunny it can be. There is no doubting that he is an expert in terms of exposure and success, but the guy really is full of himself and has an overblown sense of himself. Hell, he basically claimed to have came up with the ideas of American Idol, Smarter Than a 5th Grader, and unplugged performances.

With all that said, he's pretty much innocent in this case and the article shoulda been written clearer

Late to the party too... My opinion on Howard is that he just brings out the freaky/true side in girls. I used to think like a lot of you guys on this board. I used to believe that all girls were innocent and stuff like they are in those Disney movies. Until I saw just how low females will go with my own eyes. For the right price or right type of guy, a woman will go lower than you ever imagined.
