Wow, a lot of you guys are really getting hammered. The Pittsburgh area has about 2x the normal amount of snow for January, but it's been fairly spread out. Supposed to get mostly rain/freezing rain from the Tues/Wed storm.
So what's the weather like where you live?

Now expecting a foot to a foot and a half of snow in Mid-Missouri. Preceeded by a quarter-inch to half inch of ICE.
Snowfall rates could be 2 inches per hour tomorrow - it's not supposed to be a long storm, but it's all gonna come down in a hurry.Last edited by bcruise; 01-31-2011, 05:08 PM.Comment

Forecasted 24 inches starting tomorrow afternoon. I'll believe it when I see it.Comment

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?
On the opposite spectrum of expected snow, we're getting several inches of unexpected snow. We're on the wrong side of the lake for normal lake effect, but today the wind is just right and a band has formed over most of Duluth. So there's a lake effect snow warning.
Some parts of the city are getting 8 inches, and some parts none. Where I work and live is in the part getting the brunt.Comment

We're bracing for THE STORM OF THE CENTURY.........
Of course the weatherman calls for this every other day and so far we've only had about 2 feet total this winter.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?
And "Storm of the Century" is a pretty accurate term since this is only the 11th winter of this century and I think this storm will be the largest in some of the areas affected!
We had our "Storm of the Century" here on 1/25/00 and haven't matched it since (though we did come close in 2002 and 2010).
EDIT: Well, I guess this was the southwestern Piedmont of NC's "Storm of the Century"...
DAMN YOU Randolph County for getting two one-footers in a four year pan.
And, no RDU can't do without two one-footers in a three-year span, apparently (and I didn't live there then)...
Then you have Cape Hatteras' "Storm of the Century".
Then you arguably have the worst storm of them all due the the mass power outages caused by the copious freezing rain amounts...

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?
Well, apparently we're supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow tomorrow, then maybe a half inch to inch of sleet/ice Wednesday morning, and then another 12-18 inches of snow on top of that, Wednesday.
Good to see I'll have plenty of shoveling to do soon.Comment

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?
I've got this HUGE cyclone coming right towards my city at the moment. It should be crossing the coast just north of me in the next 24-36 hours.
250km winds, torrential rain etc. It's going to be an interesting few days to say the least!!!Comment
