That's midwest weather for you, LOL!

I remember back like 10 years ago on April 1st, it was in the middle 80s on March 31st. Then a cold front came through and the temperatures plummeted throughout the night. At around 10:00 AM, the rain changed to wet snow and we got a dusting of snow before it tapered off at around noon. We got up to about 40 that afternoon. Pretty crazy considering we were in the 80s the day prior, LOL!

It's supposed to be warm here for the rest of the week, but there are some indications of a possible snow/ice storm here in the Carolinas and maybe other parts of the Southeast come early next week. One computer model had a huge snowstorm dropping a ton of snow in southern Georgia and even into the northern panhandle of Florida, though a tend to doubt that. It's definitely something to keep an eye on.

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?

We were in the 60s today. It's 58 now.

Carolina folks, I've seen several models in a row that are hinting at a possible significant winter storm on Sunday night. It appears that temperatures could be borderline and the storm is still theoretical at this point, but there does seem to be a general consensus that there will be some precipitation Sunday night. The models vary on track, intensity, and temperature, though. It will definitely be something to watch as one of the latest models painted a bulls eye right over the I-40 corridor.

I've not seen one meteorlogist mention this yet, but remember how they did not mention that storm that brought you Raleigh folks six inches of snow until the day of the storm, then they said you'd get 1-2 inches as the snow began falling. You all got six inches. The meteorologists suck here.

I was right on that storm and I was right about the storm the other week (Though the track was farther south, clobbering areas just south and east of Raleigh), so this definitely has a chance.

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?

For folks in Northern Georgia, Upstate South Carolina, North Carolina, and up through the Northeast, the latest computer models are hinting at a nice winter storm this Saturday. One model had about 4-8 inches of snow for the western and central Carolinas which would likely turn into over a foot up in the Northeast. Another model showed 12-18 inches of snow for the Carolinas (January 2000, anyone?) with a huge storm rampaging up the east coast.

It'll probably change, but it's some nice eye candy anyways. I wish it would hold together, but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?

Well, it appears us in the Southeast are getting the screwjob again on snow. The storm just disintegrated on the models a few days ago. There's still some hope, but I wouldn't hold my breath for anything.

It's looking less likely that we'll get an early March warmup, as well, like they were originally predicted. We just can't get out of the deep freeze (relatively speaking) down south, yet we can't get any snow either!

Oh well, the 2010s and onward look to have some great winters from what I've read. We'll be entering solar minimum (as was seen in the 1800s when we saw snow commonly in London), so we'll likely be encountering some significant cooling and some great winters, which snow lovers like myself will sure appreciate! This is basically the period in which the the Sun experiences the least sunspots and should last a considerable amount of time. Also, there are some other factors which will enhance the possibilties.

Alright, East Coast folks, the models are now coming to a consensus of a nice snowstorm coming up through the Carolinas and riding up the East Coast. The models have sucked all winter, so I'm not sure if I'm buying this, but I'll be keeping a keen eye towards it.

Beware East Coasters, it's looking more likely by the minute that areas from upstate South Carolina all the way up into southern Canada could see a nice snowstorm this weekend. Your meteorologists may have not said anything (mine have highs in the 60s, LOL), but there is a general consensus among the models pointing towards this solution. I wouldn't write this in stone, of course, but this definitely looks like quite a storm, whether it be in the form of rain or snow.

I would rather have the 60s by this point.

I wouldn't be shocked if temperatures are in the 60s really. Snow is looking like a good possibility, but so is a cold rain, and temperatures in the 60s with rain is very possible, as well. We should have a lot of precipitation, though, which can hopefully help ease the drought we are in.

It's looking more like a Saturday-Monday storm now, if anything, so you should be fine.

One of the latest model runs had a big snowstorm from Savannah, Georgia to Jacksonville, Florida. I'd say that model was a bit "off", to say the least. The DGEX, which forecasted that, does have a southern bias, though, so I'd shift that snow pretty far northward.

I'm probably in the best shape for snow now in North Carolina out of my fellow OSers. Of course, places in the mountains are better off, but temperatures are looking dicey for this event and I have three advantages:

                          1.) Higher elevation (900 feet compared to Raleigh's 300)
2.) Farther northward and westward (so I'm less moderated by the ocean)
3.) I'm closer to where the cold air should be arriving.

I'm trying to temper expectations, though, because this still doesn't have a great chance of happening, but it's been on the models for a few days, so I'm getting more optimistic.

We're supposed to eclipse 60 today and tomorrow before a potentially monster snowstorm (for us) on Sunday-Monday.

The latest computer models show over a foot of snow for Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and much of eastern North Carolina. I get 6-10 inches and the mountains get over a foot. Columbia, SC gets over six inches, as well. Atlanta gets 1-4 inches while northern sections of Georgia get 4-6. Macon, Georgia gets maybe an inch and places in the Florida panhandle could pick up a coating of snow.

I'm not ready to believe this stuff yet, but the models are all saying basically the same thing, so it's a good trend, anyways.
