it was unusually warm here in ND today, however a big cold front is moving in tonight and the high temps will drop from 80s of today to 60s for the weekend.
If you must know, North Dakota winters are the most brutal of them all. Bitter, bitter cold for 6 months. You dont know cold until you come here, then everywhere else seems like paradise.(well that is, except for canada, which is worse)
Just last year Grand Forks was ranked among the coldest places in the US. If I wasn't going to college here...I'd go a little further south just to avoid this craziness.

YAY! First snow today!!! Started by noon or a bit after...then it melted, but in the afternoon it started again and it was a real snow!
Now it's about 28F and at night it'll be about 24F. According to the forecast it should be snowing at night. Yay!

I'm jealous. I wish it would snow but it's a little too early for that.

Haha, can't believe people who live in Winnepeg get excited (ina positive way) about the first snow.

We got our first real snow here in Denver today (where it actually sticks to the ground) also. I'm mostly annoyed by it since it prevents me from riding my scooter into work and saving money... hopefully it's gone by Monday, when it's supposed to be 60 degrees again. Oh, Colorado...

What pisses me off is the rain last night freezing with fresh snow on top of it, I'm not going to even bother leaving the house

Yeah, I know it's gonna be FREEZING, but it's all new for me. For you it's like "yeah, tired of that. It's been this way for years", but for me it's the first time. It's like if you moved to a HOT place like I where I lived and you'd be like "YAY! It's hot almost every day" - and I'd reply: "Can't beleive you're excited about it". You get the picture.

Highs in the upper 50's, lows in the upper 30's with more clouds than sun here in Pgh. Had a frost advisory last night and high may only top out in the upper 40's later this week. No snow yet though.

Good for you! I wish I lived up there where it was colder and snowed more!

Only in the low 50s now with a chilly rain. Very unusual cold for this time of year.

I'm supposed to top out at 76 tomorrow before the rain and cold returns. It looks like we may not top 60 again for the remainder of the seven-day forecast. My average high this time of year is in the low 70s, so this is pretty unusual.

Next week there looks like a chance of a frost or freeze here. While it's not unheard of to have a frost in mid-October, it's far from typical, either. I'm not sure whether it will happen or not, but there's definitely a shot at it.

Meanwhile, places in Alaska like Fairbanks and Barrow have been baking in above average temperatures since they have a nice ridge built over them while we have a huge trough pumping Arctic air down South into North America. You can see all the snow that has resulted in North America.

Been snowing all day - but not cold enough to not melt on the ground pretty quickly - although roofs and trees are all covered.

                              It's awesome.

Suppose to rain all day tomorrow.
