4-8 inches around here late tonight into Wednesday AM, but I'm seeing 2-4 for my immediate area.
Then it's gonna be bloody cold the few days after before warming up.

Colder than a witch's left tit. Also supposed to have snow, but god only knows how much we'll get.
We've gone anywhere from 2-3 inches to now supposedly only a couple tenths of an inch (essentially a dusting), yet a couple nearby counties are predicted to see 4+ inches.
My guess is cold as **** and between 0.1 to 12 inches of snow.Comment

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?
Today was horrible in Northeast Ohio. We got about 6 to 8 inches of snow and everyone forgot how to drive even though we do this I don't know how many times a year. On Route 90 there was a huge pileup on both sides and apparently multiple fatalities. We almost headed towards Cleveland today on 90 but thought better of it.
These people going at high rates of speed in horrible conditions is what caused this. The truckers thinking they can fly through it and the idiots with SUV's thinking they are indestructible. This is why I don't do the freeway in bad weather.Comment

The people that feel invincible are such an issue though, I don't even know what to say, like I can't get into the mindset of these individuals, why do they feel it's ok to be reckless in these conditions? It blows my mind. But these are probably the same idiots that treat clear roads as nascar tracks and put everyone else in peril just because they can and they've done it for so long without incident that they feel it'll work out for them forever. So only being a lesser lunatic in snow counts as precaution to them I guessWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

I drive fast but in control. 10 MPH over usually, I feel guilty at 15 MPH+ and would rather not deal with the police and ticket at those speeds. Besides strict areas, they don't seem to mind between 5-10 over.
But in heavy rain or snow I bring it down to the speed limit since I consider that a safe speed usually (some exceptions) or if it's really bad, I'll go under. I feel like you should have a feel for your car and when you're pushing it too far. Familiarity with the roads also matters a good bit. I generally know my max in different conditions for roads around here.
I never get mad at someone for going the limit, though. Or again, under in bad conditions provided it's reasonable. I was driving at a good pace last night and some dude was practically on my bumper. Like dude, I'm going 10 MPH over, give me a break! If it's such an emergency, pass me in the shoulder. Otherwise, back up off me. That's being an ***.
Funny you mention driving incidents since some dude almost turned in to me literally minutes ago coming back in to my office complex. He pulled up to the entrance/exit all hard so I had to swing wide and tight since the entrance/exit is curved inwards making my left in. Signal on as I always do, but he started creeping out as I'm trying to turn in when I already had to come around wide because he pulled so far out. Jammed the horn and I guess he got the message and I made it through safely. Maybe there was a car behind me he was trying to beat but you gotta wait for me to get by/make my turn first homie.
We all wanna get where we need to be, but we can't get there in one piece if you're being reckless!Last edited by slickdtc; 02-11-2016, 11:37 AM.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?
The problem with some SUV drivers that have modern SUVs is that they put way too much faith in snow mode setting. Way too many drivers, especially the under 30 drivers think oh I just put my SUV in snow mode and I can drive the way I normally drive.Comment

If the roads are paved then yeah driving in snow is pretty easy. You have to drive a little safer and stopping takes a little longer but snow is cake compared to ice.MLB: Texas Rangers

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?
Yeah I drove from LGA to Baltimore during a big snow storm because I had to get home the next day and there was no way I could make it in time if I stayed at LGA. Highway was covered, but as long as you didn't drive crazy, you were fine. Stupid people were spinning out, but I didn't have any issues in a small rental car. I'd much rather have snow covering the road than ice.Comment

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?
So early this morning it was -18 with a wind chill of -42. Much higher up on the mountain the wind chill was -110. Many people pipes froze over night up here and dozens of dead car batteries. People need to realize when it is that cold you should always leave one of your faucets slightly running over night to keep your pipes from freezing. Heat tape and pipe sleeves don't work when it gets that cold.Comment
