    Re: Gaming/PC Setups

Anyone willing to help me out here? I'm a total noob at this but want to build a PC (well, I guess I should say purchase the parts so that my friend can help put it together )

My intention is to build something that can literally run anything I throw at it like Crysis, then Starcraft II, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Crysis 2, etc. This should hopefully be a machine that can last for a while, to say the least.

So here's what I got so far pretty much just from reading NewEgg reviews and all that. I'm not 100% sure if this setup actually works, which is why I'm asking for some help here. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Alrighty, so this is what I came up with. Granted, I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing and kind of just went off reviews on NewEgg, so .. yeah. But here's just an idea, I guess:

Yeah it is great. I'm not big on dual GPU's though, and that's pretty much what a 295 is. It's like 2 260's or 275's, i don't remember which, bolted on 1 pcb. You may have a micro stutter problem with it, and you may not.A lot of people have reported issues with microstuttering and 295's. And games that don't support SLi (most newer games do so don't worry too much) will kill your performance.

But yeah, it will work, and it should work great. I've got a similar setup but with a 9800gtx+ I just bought only to do the EVGA step up program when the 275 was coming out. But I never really needed the performance boost so I never did it.

I have a few pictures I posted for something else once, but here was my set up in my dorm last year:

And you'll see a front-right in the next picture, and surround-right speaker in the picture below that:

So I have a nice little HTiB setup with my PS3 and 23" Sammy LCD.

Never did find a way to hide my wires.

That setup will kick ***. I might however suggest waiting till the directX 11 cards come out this fall as it seems that price is not too big of a factor for you. I'd also go with a different heatsink if you are planning on going for any kind of high overclock unless you are going for the look with the V8. (which imo looks badass)

                Re: Gaming/PC Setups

I'm looking at building a pc and i'm not exactly sure what would be a good set up so if any of you guys have any extra time could you link me to things to build a pc that

                - Can multitask well (playing music while having 15-20 tabs open online and downloading files)

                - Has a good graphics card that can handle games like Dirt and GTR 2

                - A good moniter for the same as above

                For about 800-1,300 if possible.

EDIT: And also if one exists could you also suggest a laptop that could do the same for around the same price range.

To thaima1shu, I would also get the 300gb VelociRaptor HDD in place of the 150gb model you have posted as 150 is not a ton of space the the 300 model is only $50 more.

Just got this, my 8800 was starting to take a turn for the worse. Also got two externals on the way..otherwise my setup is still the same.

                      Anyone upgrade?

I'm planning on buying a desktop PC. I've seen some PC's at Future Shop and BB, but I thought of replacing the video cards they have with other ones. What is considered a good video card for games, but one that's not gonna cost more than $100-$130? I'm used to having GF, but I'm sure there are some decent ATI's too. What do you think?

you not going to get no good graphics card for $130 that is for sure. None of those cards will run Dragon Age at all, let alone NBA 2K10 or Modernwarfare 2.
