Did a search and saw that the last thread like this was right at the beginning of 2007. Surely people have upgraded...post your setups!

      Re: Gaming/PC Setups

I have a "regular" setup - just a 19" monitor with an old PC...and a small desk. Would be a shame to post it so I won't I bought my PC in 2006. It's P4 3.05 Ghz, 1024 mb ram, and Geforce 6200 LE video card. It could be a decent PC but the video card is garbage, I didn't know that when I bought it. This card was actually released in late 2004...too bad I didn't know that back then.
Now that my PS2 had died, I have no choice but to play on my PC, but not many games can run on it.
      My Specs:

      ZX Spectrum
      CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
      GPU: Monochrome display
      RAM: 48 KB
      OS: Sinclair BASIC

        -XBOX 360
-22" 1920x1080 Dell flat-panel monitor (both the PC and the 360 run on this monitor)
        -Labtec stereo speakers and subwoofer

            Re: Gaming/PC Setups

I am going to post mine, which will come Thursday of this week. I said, i was building a new rig and I went ahead and ordered everything Friday. So it should get here by Tuesday, build it, bench it, take some pics, and show yall.

            Here is the specs.

            Case - Cooler Master Centurion

            Motherboard - Foxconn P45A

            Proc - Intel Quad Q6600

Video card - XFX 9800 GT

Power Supply - PC Power & Cooling 750w

            Ram - OCZ Reaper 4GB

            Total build cost
            $644.80

Cheap, powerful, and can handle just about any game I can throw at it. Perfect for me.

Ohhh yea, I also run a case now that has a side window with light and what not. I got sooooooo tired of the light shine, that I went with a case that had no window. Plus I like cooler master.

All other parts like Hard drive, Floppy, DVD drive, and burner. I already have so that is why they are not on this list. This is just what I purchased for the build coming up this week.

My end specs look like this

            Q6600
            OCZ reaper 4 GB ram
            XFX 9800 GT
            Foxconn P45A-S
500 gig HD (I will never use it all lol)
            750W PS

            My monitor - 19" Samsung 940BW

Flight controls - Saitek rudders and throttle quad and joy for flight sims

            Headphones - Sennheiser 280s

            Gamepad - Z-Fang

            5:1 surround sound - Logitech Z-5500

I have those same speakers Phobia.

That's a nice rig man, I was using the q6600 until I ordered the i7 920. Great cpu (q6600 i mean), used it for over a year with no probs whatsoever, its a multi taskers dream.

Also just so you guys know, you dont have to post a pc setup specifically, only if thats where your doing your gaming (as those who have posted seem to be doing) I meant setups as in whereever you do your gaming at.

                Looking forward to the pics

It is a Z-Fang gamepad. It is basiclly a WASD setup with the surrounding keys in a better postion for easier reach than a regular keyboard. Example space bar is jump on most shooters. Well on the pad if you look on the sides where ya thumb would fall is two buttons, 1 of those is your jump key (or whatever ya bind is). It just makes for faster, more effecient play

Ya celtic, I saw them on the left desk. Our desk setups are alot the same to. Mine is just a wooden, corner unit with the raised hutch. I have heard wonderful things about the Q6600, great overclocking proc. Comes 2.4 per core, but they say 3.0 per core is easily reachable.

Also if ya wanna see my RIGS, I need to charge the camera :P
I have PS3, 360, and gaming PC. BUT my PC is my pride and joy area, it is where I do the most of my gaming. I also came from PC gaming and converted to consoles, somewhat lol

It's probably a beast when you OC it. I ran it at stock speeds the entire time I had it and I never hiccuped while using photoshop, illustrator, and AE similtaneously.

I was waiting for black friday/cyber monday to end to see if anything in my cart dropped, no luck though. I pulled the trigger early sunday morning and my stuff should be here Wednesday. When I have everything my rig will be:

                          The Glam

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit (This is the one you were looking at for 79.99, it's an OEM package though so you'll only get the disc, no manuals, no support from microsoft aka system builder copy)
Antec P182 Gun Metal Black Computer Case
                          24" BenQ FP241W Monitor & 24" BenQ V2400W Monitor (Dual Display)
Logitech Wireless Ergonomic Keyboard + Mouse
                          Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Surrond Sound
Turtle Beach EarForce HPA2 5.1 Surrond Sound Headphones

                          Under the hood

Cooler Master Real Power Pro 750W PSU
                          Gigabyte X58 (DS4) Mobo
                          G.Skill 6GB DDR3 1333 (Triple Channel)
                          Intel Core i7 920 (Quad-core) CPU
8800 GTS Alpha Dog Edition (Was gonna pick up a 9800 until I realized I had this laying around)
Creative Sound Blaster ZS 2 Sound Card
Seagate Cheetah 74 GB 15,000 RPM HDD (Boot Drive)
Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB - Winded up settling with just a TB, Timmay was right, 2TB was a bit excessive . I'll probably partition it 50/50, not sure yet.

I'll post pics when I set it up.

I know you guys have some nice setups! What's up with the participation in this thread!

I have a did not mention that either. I have a 80gig HD, I am using for my OS, then a 500 gig HD I am going to use for all software and games. I am so tired of having to write zeros to the HD every year or so and having to reinstall everything. I like a fresh OS, it just runs so much better after a year or two of heavy use.

Also yea that 8800 will be plenty for what you do. Then in its own it will still run just about anything on high but maybe crysis, farcry 2 and bioshock. Are u gonna mess with the timings on the G.Skill? If so let me know how it handles it. I have never messed with G.skill before, mainly stayed with corsair for many years.

Also this is a big build for me cause I am leaving my ol faithful AMD for Intel. I have always been a AMD fan, but could not pass up on the huge reivews the Q6600 was getting.

Oh and yea I got a Creative X-FI Extreme Audio, Stay away from the card. Horrible, it is basicly a sound blast SE repackaged. Did not do the research on it like I should have. My old card went out, ran to best buy and figuring the X-FI is a good series. Well the series is good but this one model the "extreme audio" is the odd ball with out true EAX and all the other goodies of the other cards in the same class. Like switching between my 360 and PC, causes it to auto mute the line-in. ANNOYING!!!

anyway, I enjoy PC chit chat.

My PC is slowly dying after 2+ years. But it's my fault buying it from that store, they're not considered the most reliable store. So my PC is starting to process more and more (the hard drive light is flickering for longer times recently and it's impossible to work like this). I'm not ashamed to say that I smacked my PC today. But hey! It worked LOL.
                              My Specs:

                              ZX Spectrum
                              CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
                              GPU: Monochrome display
                              RAM: 48 KB
                              OS: Sinclair BASIC
