If smacking it worked, then go for it (j/k don't hit a PC)

Well the rig is built and up and running.

        Q6600 Quad core
        XFX 9800 GT
        OCZ 4 gigs ram
        Foxconn mobo
        PP&C 750w Power supply
        Windows Vista 64 Home

Windows Vista score tracker is cool. The highest it goes up to is 5.9 right now. I scored a 5.6 sooooo needless to say it is a BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have tested Farcry 2, World at War, Left 4 Dead, and The Witcher on it so far.

Farcry 2 with Dx10 everything on Very High and Maxed out fully. AA 4x - 1440 x 900
        58 - Max fps
        38 - Min fps
I notice no skipping or anythig fps problems in game what so ever. It is truly a AMAZING looking game in DX10. My jaw was on the floor.

I am going to get some screen shots tonight to show yall how wonderful the graphics look maxed out.

          Re: Gaming/PC Setups

Well here are some pics. Added the new PC and my old 360 now that I have a comp I can run it through. I need to take a cable management class.

Put Ole' Reliable back up (old 360)

Wanted to replace this with a 32 " samsung but I ended up passing on black friday/cyber monday deals...I'll just roll with this until January

My old comp stripped of it's 8800 and Creative Sound Blaster..I'm selling this one to my girl for $400...it will be missed.

New comp, lol I suck with cables, I know. I'll be tidying up soon enough though.

          One upping Phobia...

Haven't had a chance to put FC2 on here just yet so I'll be awaiting those pics.

One upping me LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice system bro!!!!!!!!!!!!

It always goes to your lowest score on the chart and like yours I am sitting at 5.9 across the board but my Harddrive score is a 5.6 so that puts my score at the 5.6. Not sure why my hardrive got a low score, could be cause of the size it is only a 160 gig. I pulled a old HD I had on the shelf and through it in, for the mean time.

Nice setup MC, The cables deal is everyones problem. My desk cables I have even worse problems because I have alot of extra stuff. I have rudder pedals, Flight stick, Gamepad, extra keyboard converted to flight sim instrument panel. So I am sitting with the same problem.

Also what is the IDE for? Disk drive? Why not running SATA?

We went out last night and shot pool so I did not mess around on the PC. But tonight for sure I am going to put some pics up.

Also what kind of PS is on the PC with the aftermarket cooler and all the red cables?

              Re: Gaming/PC Setups

My comp is six years old and ANCIENT (Dell Dimension 4400). I hope I can get help from you comp heads. I was thinking of just replacing parts with new, advanced stuff. Is this a good thing to do or would it not work? Or maybe I should build my own and if I did, what tools would I need to put everything together? Or just buy a new computer/laptop and if I do so, what would you recommend? I'm not into PC gaming really because I never had the computer to do so. So, I'm really going for something that can do a little bit of gaming and pretty much kick major *** everywhere else.

I'd say it depends on how much you want to spend. You can easily build a new rig capable of handling everything on the market right now for $1000-12000

                    I built mine, which is a Quad core Q6600, 9800 GT , 4 gigs ram, 750 power supply for = $644

So you can easily get into the high end of gaming for about the same price as a launch Xbox360. So it is not bad at all.

The X52 is a nice Joy/Throttle quad setup. Only reason I did not go with it is the joy is a tad bit spongie. It can be fixed with a bigger heavy duty spring.

I also use track IR. It is a home built system using the free version. FreeTrack. Talk about a excellent program.

Nice system Solid!!!! Also what is that Green-orange-pink looking stuff on what looks like your RAM?

Also guys I am trying to post the pics of Farcry 2 to show off some of the high end graphics you can get on very high and I can find a host that supports images in high res 1440x900 res. Any suggestions?

You should get on IL-2 with me. Can pick up the entire 1942 edition for $20. Serious serious sim flight sim. But is a BLAST online. Never seen a activity strip like that. Without a case window it would be usless though. I have had a case window for years now and got tired of the light shine from it so this time around on this build I went with a case with no window. Neat though.
