Nothing wrong with it, I only said that because that's what I would've done. If you're building exclusively for gaming then I'd say go with the e8500, hell even the e8400. You can't go wrong with either. It'll be a while before quads are fully utilized in games.

Re: Gaming/PC Setups
fistof..that's a solid rig. Only thing I would suggest (if your budget allows it) would be to invest in a VelociRaptor as a boot drive. I think the 150GB is ~150, 300GB ~250.
Nothing wrong with the drive you have now but I just like my boot drives to be very speedy. Not sure what you think but that's the only improvement I can think of, everything else looks good. Good luck bro.
Thanks man, not real good at this stuff but I'm trying to learn.
Didn't want to make a purchase if anything seems suspect. Thats about the top end of my budget.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Lol, you got no worries man, it will run on that no problem. I'm sure I could play it with no probs and I didn't even spend 700 on my rig. You're probably over paying if you get it built directly from cyberpower like that. Why not just buy the parts individually, I would think you would come out cheaper? Newegg always has a great deal on parts. Excuse me if that's what you intended or aren't up to building it yourself.Last edited by trobinson97; 03-05-2009, 06:15 PM.PS: You guys are great.

Re: Gaming/PC Setups
Nice TV, strange thing happened when I first clicked on the second photo, it went to Adult Friend Finder, lol. I clicked a couple more times and it always went to the proper place but for some reason the first time it went to that website.
Side question, somewhat on topic, if I could get a 42" Samsung 720p Plasma for 567.00 new in box would it be worth it?Comment

Re: Gaming/PC Setups
Alright guys, I need your help.
I want to consolidate my gaming area. So I need a HDMI monitor to hook up my 360 to as well as the PC.
The ACers looked like a good deal but people are telling me that there is no way to output sound if the HDMI is kooked up.
I assume that means that I wouldn't be able to hook up my 360 with the HDMI and get sound.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Looking for 22" minimum 1920 monitor that could run my 360 with sound as well as be my PC monitor. Looking for something in the $300 range or less if possible. Thanks.
This is one I found at Newegg that fits my price range, will this work for the 360 as well?:

Re: Gaming/PC Setups
One of the few problems I do see with that monitor is the refresh rate is a tad on the low end.
As far as the sound issue. You are going to hook your PC up through the DVI I am assuming and your 360 through the HDMI port.
The HDMI will output to the little 2" built in speakers, nothing with much power.
The sound from the computer would come from your sound card.
Now as far as how to get that HDMI sound from the 360 to output from a more powerful set of speakers, like a surround sound set up I would think you need to do a different route. Use a Digital receiver and go with a optical audio cable to the receiver and have the sound output through the 5:1 setup.
Now I am saying this assuming the HDMI jack on the 360 cable has the audio opitcal input like the component jack does.
Hope that makes sense fist, I just woke up and did a quick read overComment

Re: Gaming/PC Setups
Started putting my rig together last night. One minor issue I didn't anticipate is that I have an older power supply. It's 550W so has plenty of juice to run everything but it only has 2 SATA connectors and 1 PCIe connector. I know the 4870 comes with an adapter for PCIe connectors but not sure if something similar exists for SATA in case I want to add more drives down the road.Comment
