Sorry. I meant to quote you about making the burgers at home and just in general about fast food.

This all reminds me of something I read recently that couldn't be more true these days.

As a kid, when you eat McDonald's it is a victory
As a parent, when you eat McDonald's it is defeat

That's just the racist *** term the military calls rinky dink little shops run by an old Asian lady that they frequent.

No, it's not a racist *** term in my eyes and my experience. It's probably not the official name, but that's just what we call it because of the lady that owns it.

Mama san usually refers to a woman in some sort of power (bars, clubs, restaurants, etc.). Even the Japanese people I know call her that, she also owns a bar pretty close by.

I asked a girl out one time that works at a local place and she said, "You'll have to ask mama san if I can get out of work".

It's a Japanese and East Asia thing.

                I know what it is.

San is just a common honorific. I was speaking purely in terms of the states, since that's not a Japanese phrase. More Janglish than anything since they wanted to add the honorific.

They may accept it, but it is a racist term. Or maybe she actually does run a whorehouse somewhere as that's what it originally meant back when we coined the term in ww2.

Hell, I watched our mama-San chase people out of the restaurant for calling her that not knowing about it.

Price on McDoubles went up AGAIN here, now $1.29

I swiched over to the $1 McChicken after the first price hike.

McDonalds is simplyfing the menu, from 16 value meals to 11.

                    1 Quarter Pounder w/cheese instead of 4.

1 Premium Chicken Wrap vs 4.

1 Snack Wrap instead of 3.

                    Can't wait.................not.

This... I haven't eaten at mcdonalds/burger king/wendys/etc... in years. I feel so much better having eliminated that from my diet. I don't understand why anyone eats there ever.

Starting in October, McDonald's will be serving breakfast all day in California (EDIT: Apparently all the US, thanks kehlis). I suppose some customers will be won back over again.

On a relevant note, before seeing Billy Joel at AT&T Park last night, every restaurant had a 45 minute wait, so we just went to the McDonald's just across the street from the park. I haven't been to McD's for a while, and I'm guessing this has a park factor involved, but my double cheeseburgers were $2.05 there and my medium fries were $2.49 (not including tax). Pretty ridiculous for a meal that used to cost under $3.50 when I first made this thread (including tax).

I disagree with the last part a little bit. Because if you count for inflation over a 7 year period and the fact that the economy isn't in shambles anymore it could come close to being the same amount you paid back in 2008. Just with the inflation rate, the food you bought for 3.64 in 2008 would now cost you 3.99 last year, 2014 (website I used for inflation calculation didn't have 2015). So it's really not that bad when you consider inflation and then probably the cost of goods sold is probably higher as well, meaning they need to charge more to make the same profit back. Also as you said being near the stadium doesn't help either.

Not saying I disagree, but I'll just throw out the supposed numbers if this was 2008 versus this meal today.

2008: Let's say it was $3.61, tax included (just to get to my next value). It might have been exactly $3.50 though because I remember a time when I could bring exact change without a problem. Small fries were on the dollar menu at the time and it would have made my meal $3.23, if I remember that correctly? Anyway, medium wasn't much more expensive when I was out in SD.

2015: Tax included (now at 9.5% here), two double cheeseburgers for $2.05 and a $2.49 order of medium fries is $7.22. I understand the inflation of food, tax, and near the ballpark... but a 100% increase? Yowzas! Why doesn't my teacher salary go up like that too?

Now that's not to say costs haven't gone up. I've touted In-N-Out Burger before, and what was my $8.88 meal the last time I posted is now $9.16 (see this meal). Heck, if I think hard enough I could probably even argue that in 2006 I remember it in the $7-8 price range. It's hardly a massive cost increase like this contrast was, though. This one is just unfair haha.
