LOL, you're dead on here. We drink about 3 gallons of milk a week in my house.

Man, if we didn't have milk in my apartment I'd be screwed. Cereal is my go-to food when I don't feel like cooking.

In fact, I'm going to have a bowl or two of cereal with milk here in a few minutes.

And as for the original point...sacrifice a piece of cheese and get the "McDouble" for a dollar.

I am surprised how many people use those coinstar machines. You could do the same by just bringing your coins to the bank and they will happily deposit those coins into your account without taking out so much percentage out of it.

I don't use milk that much either, but that doesn't mean its not a necessity.

The milk and grocery shopping comments are so true. When I was living at home with my parents and brother, we went through at least a 2L carton of milk each day, if not more. And the prices on them were increasing at a pretty high rate. Same with the grocery shopping. When I would go out grocery shopping with my mom as a kid, I always noted that the total amount would range around 100$. Today, the same quantity of food will range from 150-200$.

Anyways, if you don't feel like spending that extra 20 cents on McDonalds, donate it to the millions of starving children in Third World countries.

BTW, I'm not taking any sides, I'm just commenting that prices on everything are going up today. It's called Inflation.

Man, this story reminds me of my 7-Eleven slurpee addiction. I always bought the pink/red cup pretty much every other day since high school. It was always a dollar and a nickel. Since then, it went up to a dollar and a dime and now it's a dollar and a quarter (I never accepted the change). That's bull! Wait until it goes up to a buck and a half... Then I'll have no choice but to downsize to the little green cup.

True that. On the flip side, I've heard that there are some banks out there that have similar Coinstar machines within their branches, and that if you're a member of the bank then they would waive the percentage. Yay labor replacement!

No joke...TCF even has their own "Coinstar-ish" machines that do the counting, and no 8% off the top. We're taking my five year old son to cash his two piggies (one for pennies, and one for the silver coins) and opening a savings account with it.

So, let me get this straight. Every penny counts to you, yet you took a ton of change and, instead of counting it yourself, put it into the "lazy man's" coin counter and paid an 8.9% fee?

I don't use milk for anything. Cereal is basically candy so I don't eat that stuff, plus milk has enough sugar in it already. I don't drink milk because I'd much rather have water, even if I were having cookies. Basically I don't like to drink calories. Yea I pretty much don't drink any beverage that has calories in it (water 95% of the time).

I'm as healthy as can be as well, it isn't vital for nutritional supplementation.

I like milk but you can get what you need from milk in other things. Milk isn't a necessity at all.

We're not even supposed to be drinking the stuff, really.
