I take it you didn't read my gas analogy:

And remember, I'm 20 years old, I've been paying for my own gas for four years now. Also, I didn't say I'm not getting burgers anymore, I said I'll just go elsewhere.

Once again we're back at square one, where I don't think my point has come across.

Oh, and as long as one is driving, gas is a necessity. Burgers are not.

Speaking of McDonald's Apple Pies, I hate their new "baked" pies. The old fried ones were basically the greatest thing ever.

This may be true. I personally don't eat anything else from McD's other than their burgers and fries anyway, so I guess I can't be one to speak about their other food items. All I know is that here on campus they have pre-made double cheeseburgers because they know they'll just fly off the shelves only a couple of minutes after being made. I can walk in there, say what I want, and get my food in ten seconds because it's already there for me. That may sound unappetizing, but like I said, it's only made within a couple of minutes of my order anyway.

With that said, you guys may be right in that many people may not even notice that they're paying more, but I noticed instantly because I would order the same thing every time (and math is not so hard... three dollars plus tax should not be 65 cents extra). In that regard, people may not care. However, I know that, when they first came out with this dollar menu, McDonald's had a whole new set of customers. It was truly the best fast food burger value on the market.

I get a craving for McDonalds about once or month or so... it's crazy. Only burgers I like of McDonald's are the small ones that come in the kids meals. Big Mac's etc are horrible to me. I used to like the Homestyle Burger though.

Best fast food burger to me is Whataburger.

That replacement double isn't bad at all, I had one the other day after work and it tasted just like the regular double.. didn't even notice that it only had one piece of cheese on it.

The good part is that it's better for you since it lacks that extra piece of cheese.. of course, "better for you" at MCD's is relative, but actually a McDouble is only 390 calories compared to 440 for a double and has 19g of fat instead of 23g, all due to the lack of cheese slice #2. Not a bad scenario for people who live off the dollar menu (aka the working poor, students, etc.) because they might lose a few pounds.. 50 calories per sandwich is a pretty substantial difference. And really, 390 calories and 19g of fat representing a large part of a meat-based meal isn't bad at all.

So yeah, I applaud McDonalds for opting to make the $1 cheeseburger option slightly healthier instead of just using crappier products to make it (think Pizza Hut's "Pizza Mia").
