Maybe I'm picky, but I CAN notice the difference between 2 slices of cheese than one......... I always tasted the cheese on top of the top patty...........

And check your burgers too, at least for the short term. I paid $1.19 a piece for 2 double cheeseburgers, but I ended up with McDoubles instead. I don't know if the workers are getting confused or what, just make sure you are getting what you pay for.

I paid for a McDouble today and got a double cheeseburger instead.

      It was like Christmas.

so a McDouble is the new double cheeseburger for $1 with one piece of cheese?

I never go to McDonald's but all this publicity that OS has been giving them (commercial thread, this thread) lately has prompted me to go there twice in the last 2 weeks and may go today....so, go figure.

          Just to let everyone know...

According to an AOL-Health "Healthiest/Unhealthiest" items at five big fast-food chains, the "McDouble" is the unhealthiest item on the McDonald's menu with a whopping 390 calories, 19 grams of fat and 65 mg of cholestoral.

Of course, that's nothing compared to Wendy's JR. Bacon Cheeseburger and it's 670 mg of Cholestoral, but still.

          Just some food for thought...

Not a bad scenario for people who live off the dollar menu (aka the working poor, students, etc.) because they might lose a few pounds.. 50 calories per sandwich is a pretty substantial difference. And really, 390 calories and 19g of fat representing a large part of a meat-based meal isn't bad at all.
              3500 cals = 1 lb of fat

It would take 70 McDouble's to have 3500 less cals than Double Cheeseburgers

However...if you switch from a DC to a McD AND order water instead of a soda...you could save more money and consume even fewer cals.

              Soda = 200 cals?

That would be 250 cals total, so it would only take 14 burgers/water combos to lose that lb instead of 70 burgers.

Just switching up the burger does nothing.

Re: And just like that, McDonald's just lost one, if not millions of customers

Well yeah, but still, losing a piece of cheese that is probably unnecessary makes it a healthier sandwich. That's all I was saying -- at least they didn't just use worse materials to make it like many chains do when they cut something for budget reasons.

And how is it the most unhealthy sandwich at McDonalds when it has less of all the bad factors than a regular double cheeseburger? That made no sense to me.. I just looked at their nutrition facts and it's not nearly the worst thing. AOL is ********: http://nutrition.mcdonalds.com/bagam...ion_facts.html Basically every breakfast item (regular McMuffin and Sausage Biscuit aside) and most of the salads are worse for you than the McDouble..

Also, according to that, the salads with crispy chicken instead of grilled have less cholesterol... how is that possible? Grilled has less calories, but what gives with the cholesterol?

I would like to point out that you used to be able to get a hamburget at McD's for 15 cents, but it looks like they are still going strong.

The AOL thing was about the worst thing on the Dollar or Value menus.

The worst item at McDonald's overall is the Double Quarter Pounder w/ cheese. At Wendy's I'm not sure if its the 3/4 lb. Triple w/ cheese or the Baconator. But the McDouble and Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger are nowhere near the top of either list overall

I went to McDonald's yesterday for the first time in ages thanks to this thread. After eating my food, I remembered why it had been so long since I had gone there.

They can raise the prices to whatever or lower them down to a nickel, I don't care, it'll be a cold day in hell before I go to another McDonalds.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

So now that I'm back home for the break I decided to visit my very close McDonald's restaurant and see if my place had $0.99 double cheeseburgers. What I found was worse... double cheeseburgers were $1.29 and small fries were $1.59. I walked out with a McDouble (just one) and very much tasted the one less slice of cheese.

I may be sounding picky, but I miss my dollar double cheeseburgers.

Anyway, as a result, I'll be having a lot of In-N-Out and Subway while I'm home. At least my Subway has the Club for $5 still.

Funny though that my Subway isn't just restricted to "Eight great subs." I know a girl that works there and she doesn't charge me for avocado and bacon too.
