And they didn't cry about it later, did they? They said while it was a little embarrassing, they learned quite a bit from it.

They don't seem all that "special" from the video I saw of them on ESPN, but even if they are a little, I don't see the issue when them playing "real" teams.

Maybe their coach talked to them, and they wanted to challenge themselves, not just play against other "special" teams...

I think I read somewhere that it is for people with learning disabilities. That doesn't mean they can't play basketball, actually, looking at recruits nowadays I think it might actually mean they are better at basketball.

        Absolutely horrifying and embarrassing.

My dad's little league team went 23-0 in their baseball league and he would take out the starters as soon as the margin went over 10+ runs.

Yep, since there's plenty of fun in a 100-0 loss.

What the hell is there to learn in a 100-0 game? That your opponent is classless?

Dallas Academy teaches kids who have learning disabilities and short attention spans.

Also, Dallas Academy is apparently restructuring their schedule so that they play JV teams now.

It says they are 2a. That means they probably have somewhere between 160-220 girls in their school. They obviously were not on the same level. They should've played Covenant's JV and called it a day.
Not sure how you got that number when it says enrollment for grades 7-12 is 134.

I'm also going to assume that Private School 2A isn't the same as Public School 2A.

Another example in sports that show why women are the most coldhearted, bloodsucking motherf'ers on the planet.

Notice how stories like this 9 times out of 10 deal with women's athletics.

I heard about this on PTI in their segment on Sportscenter but I caught the ending of it so I didn't hear everything. Thank you for posting the story.

Read the article again. It's the Academy school that has 8 girls on varsity and only 20 in the school.

lol its on all of the major news outlets, it is a major story.

Hell once you get up 40-30 points, you pull your starters and play a 1/4 court Man 2 Man. Its that Simple. High School sports are supposed to teach good sportsmanship, obviously this Coach missed that.

                          I didn't read that.

I was just assuming based on the size of my school which is a private 2a school in Oklahoma, we aren't really in the state system so sometimes we are ranked in 3a, too.

Is there a rule stating this?

I just disagree then. These girls could be playing for a college scholarship. If they were better than every team they played, should they pull all of the starters and stop playing hard after the 1st quarter? How is that fair to the team that is playing well?

The truth is this. Basketball is a game between two teams that play 2 or 4 quarters. The team with the most points wins at the end of the game. To stop one team from playing basketball because their competition is unable to match their talent is stopping the teams from playing basketball.

You wouldn't have a bowling team walk into a bowling match and expect that they start rolling balls down the gutter because their competition can't hit a pin.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

How Can you defend a team that is leading 100-0 and still using Full Court press? I dont blame the kids for playing hard, Hell I would go for the Jugular. But it is a Coaches Responsibility to reel in his players. Since I watch lots of College hoops, When a team is up by about 20 w/ the shotclock off, they hold the ball till the game is over. This Team kept on shooting then Pressed.
