Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
The man that started this thread chimes in...
Had some NewCastle Brown Ale this past weekend
A- Hazel brown in color, Sudsy tan head that shrinks quickly. Little lacing.
S- Sweet malt, slightly nutty scent as well.
T- Clean and crisp. Sweet malt flavor dominates and is nicely done. Nutty, slight buttery taste, some caramel. Clean finish with no aftertaste.
M- Lighter bodied, creamy smooth texture. Carbonation is dead on. Soft on the palate.
D- Outstanding drinkability . Refreshing, clean and very sessionable. Good go to beer for any occasion and easy to find which is a bonus.
a little pricey tho.
swigs...outa 5 good stuff

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
This thread makes me want an Amber Bock. And this is my first visit to this thread, so I'll enjoy reading through some of the older posts.
Seeing as how I'm 23 and have been recently released from the fraternity lifesyle in May that was filled with Natty, Bud Light, and the occassional PBR, I found that I really am a beer lover. My question to the experienced beer lovers is, what are some good places to go learn more about the different types of beer and other useful information. Any other advice, tips or whatever would be appreciated. Thanks.
...I still want an Amber Bock...that Cream Stout looked delicious, too..."You guys are Nazi's, man!"Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Yeah, Newcastle is one of my fall-back beers when a bar doesn't have anything appealing on tap... they almost always have a bottle of Newcastle sitting around though.
Places around here have been adding Hoegaarden on tap, which rules... tastes identical to how it tastes in Europe, but I think it's literally just because it's a draft instead of bottle. Heineken actually tasted different bottle or not... I don't normally like it (neither does my Dad), but we both enjoyed them in Amsterdam.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Yeah, I'm becoming a big fan of the aromas that hop-heavy beers have... and you're right about them going well with "oregano". I'll go to the massive liquor store and see if I can find those to try. Thanks for the suggestion.
I might warm up to the skunky craziness that some of them have, but I'm easing my way into the hops I guess. It just always turned me off -- even Sierra Nevada Pale Ale used to make me nearly gag with the skunk factor, but I think I would like it a bit more now. Helps to have food nearby to pair with it... in general, I'd rather drink a dark malty beer if I'm just sitting there drinking a beer.
Some day you'll be drinking stuff like this where planes actually bomb your beer with hops:Attached FilesComment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Been rockin lots of PBR lately and drawing plenty of blank stares from my friends and family wondering why, after years of preaching the good beer gospel, I'm toting around a 12-er of PBR. Goes down easy that's why. Oberon mini kegs are fun to pick up from time to time.
Yup, a not-so-good beer weekend unfortunately. Although, I really think you can't go wrong with some PBR now and then, it really is one of the better old time macros (turned super cheap).Comment

Whoo, holy ****... I think my tastebuds just evolved in the last 6 months or something, because I'm LOVING this Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. It has an aftertaste, but it's not skunky at all, and it's just so snappy and smells great. 9.0% ABV doesn't hurt either. Eating an onion, mushroom, and goat cheese tart I made and drinking my 2nd beer... good times.
I know what you hop heads are on about now. This was a beautiful beer:
Great lacing:

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
I have about three 4 packs of the 90 Minute IPA by Dogfish Head in my fridge. It is my favorite beer ever. In fact, I had two of them tonight. Before that I had a Hoegaarden and a shot at the bar and after that I tried one of these:
That is a Founder's Breakfast Stout and it is absolutely delicious. It was rather pricey ($15.99 for a 4 pack) but well worth it to me. I highly recommend it.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
What do you guys elsewhere pay for the 90-Minute IPA? I found it for $10.99 for a 4-pack (not on sale or anything) -- is that pretty average?
But yeah, it's crazy... very good beer. These hoppy beers are very complex, and I guess it's growing on me. I used to hate olives and asparagus too, so things change...Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment
