To be honest I don't drink enough beer to have anything to compare it to, but I personally like it better plus Starr Hill is like half an hour from where I live so its nice to drink something local. I know they have those sample six packs and I've been meaning to pick that up to try some of their others.

Tip for beer-heads who have ladies who enjoy a nice beer but want something on the light side: Steamworks Diablo Ale... it's brewed with Riesling grapes and is like a weird fusion of a Belgian farm ale and white wine. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but the two girls I was with were all over it. They're also real beer drinkers (we were at the bar primarily for a nitro Milk Stout), so I guess take it with a grain of salt... but immediately it was, "MMMMMMM, that's a summer beer" from both. Only got a B from BeerAdvocate for some reason, but it was a damn fine summer choice and it's freakin 8+% ABV. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/5074/10748

I also really like Breckenridge Brewery's Regal Pilsner... at 7.7% ABV it's the type of Pilsner that I like... had a good hops kick and has some nads to it instead of just being a light, typical Pilsner.

              Poured a Brooklyn Oktoberfest

pretty light, toasty, mildly sweet lager, w/ some caramel & toffee notes...damn good beer...a must try.

As far as Oktoberfest beers, I prefer Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest-Märzen

Very, very excited to try it!

My wife would love this, she's really into Riesling.

Work has been extra stressful, end of DODs Fiscal Year is 30 Sept, and I've been coping by everyday coming home, pulling out a frosty mug from the freezer, and cracking open a fresh XX Ambar. Stay thirsty my friends!

It goes down like a cold glass of water.

Whilst watching the Skins game last night, here's what I had:

This is pretty much my stand by beer.

I had never tried or heard of this before last night but I thought it was great.

Been meaning to try this for awhile and liked it. Kind of similar to the Jomo, but definitely worth getting again.

+ salt = beer champagne. Only drank this cause a female pressured me into it. Was not as bad as I was expecting, the salt actually helped.

Wait, so people put a bit of salt inside a High Life a la Corona (minus the lime)? Never heard of that...

It's Beer Week here in Denver. The Great American Beer Festival is in town, but I didn't get tickets. I'll just be trolling around to the various brewpubs, restaurants, and taphouses to try their special brews.

I had never heard of it either, but I don't really keep up with the big beers. She was drinking them that way most of the night. Miller High Life, put about 4-5 shakes of salt and be set. She nicknamed it beer champagne.

This is such a great beer. There's a liquor store within 2 miles of my place that carries it.

Just had a Stone Ruination and Russian Imperial bomber this past weekend. They are such delicious brews.

I also had a Sierra Nevada bigfoot a little bit ago. Very complex barley wine style ale. Starts out nice and malty, then brings a nice fruity flavor, and ends with a hop kick. Loved every bit of it.

Stone Ruination is one of my favorite brews. Actually, just about anything from Stone is my favorite.

                                I agree, man, great stuff.

Funny story about Dog Fish Head. My buddy bought a case of 90 min IPA at the local distributor here but put the case upside down. He paid for it, walked out, and then realized it was close to $10 dollars cheaper than expected. He got home, gave me one, and started laughing. The lady thought he was buying 60 minute because the 90 was upside down..
