Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Just popped open my $13.99 pint of the Red & White by Dogfish Head. I think that this is a seasonal/limited edition beer, but I could be wrong. I poured it into a tulip-glass, and got a good dark red/orange color. 10% ABV isn't too bad at all for this easy-sipping blended brew. Pretty solid overall. Good taste to it...great for an afternoon in the snow.

Hopefully it finds its way out there because you will get some quality products. I'm a fan of Stone too...but the more options the merrier.Comment

I am liking Stone also. Their Ruination IPA is wonderful. 135 IBUs, nice big hoppy flavor and bite.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
. So it makes me wonder why Louisiana isn't getting some good domestic brews...I don't know anything about their distributors or anything, but it seems a little odd.
And Stone was also featured in Beer Wars...mostly Dogfish Head though, in terms of small breweries.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
After watching Beer Wars, it really makes me think about the whole beer industry in a different way. I was amazed to find out that Sam Adams only makes up like 14-16 percent of the entire beer market, whereas Budweiser, Miller, and Coors took up around 80% (mind you this was filmed a year or two ago). I think Dogfish Head made up to .0002% of the beer sales. So it makes me wonder why Louisiana isn't getting some good domestic brews...I don't know anything about their distributors or anything, but it seems a little odd.

basically is a issue between distributors & Dealers. Not informed enough on the topic to know it well enough to discuss it. But in brief that is pretty much what I got out of our conversation.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
I broke down and bought a couple of 6-packs tonight that I've seen mentioned in this thread. I got Dogfish Head (90 minute) and Bell's Hopslam. Dogfish Head 90 minute is one of the nastiest things I've ever put in my mouth, it tasted like a Sam Adams. The Bell's Hopslam on the other hand is phenomenal. I've downed 4 and have a really good buzz goin, I'm a light-weight. It tastes really fruity and smells the same. I like it a lot.
I was at my local liquor store here and was looking for the 120 minute Dogfish Head and saw it @ $8.99 per bottle. I thought it was a misprint and asked the manager. She said it was indeed $8.99/bottle, a vendor was there stocking domestics and he told me that the 120 was $180/case so the $8.99 price tag was fairly accurate. I just didn't feel like spending 9 dollars on a single beer so I'll leave my impression of Dogfish Head as it currently is: ****ty. The 90 minute I had was oh so disappointing. I'll be picking up some more Hopslam tomorrow afternoon.Last edited by Sting; 02-13-2010, 06:16 AM.Comment

The dogfish Head 90 and 120 are both ranked among the top of IPA's. I think you just have not developed your pallet yet for the piney, floral, bitterness of a IPA.
I say stick with the stouts, APA's, and more tame beers.
Dogfish Head 90 IPA ranks A across the board

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
The Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA is my favorite beer. It's incredibly popular among beer lovers...at this one place called the Flying Saucer out by Dallas, the 90 Minute IPA is one of the most popular beers out of a selection of 200 or so.
And I am really jealous you found the 120 Minute IPA...it's been a couple months since I've seen it at my local beer stores. For $8.99 a bottle you are getting yourself a great deal. I think I paid $10-12 for mine. Once I get some more expendable money I will definitely be buying a case of the 120 Minute.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Yes, I must admit that I don't even know anything about the IPA's. I asked the lady that was working there and she told me but it went right in one ear and out the other. The 90 minute tasted really dark to me and that was weird because it just didn't look dark in the bottle or when I poured it into my glass. It's just not for me.
I'm actually very lucky to have this liquor store. Guys: no lie, EVERY beer that I've seen in this thread is at this store. The pink elephant beer I saw, and the Chimay and the Goose Island too.
My two friends that I shared the Dogfish and Hopslam with enjoyed the Dogfish more than the Hopslam.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
I have a nasty tasting beer question.
How much would yall think a 12 pack of bottled Michelob Ultra should run at a store like Wal mart?
Same question, but Bud Light Lime.Comment
