I wanted to try the Not Your Fathers Root Beer that everyone has been talking about, but it is hard to find here in Eastern Michigan. I ran across this stuff instead and it is pretty good. It's kinda sweet though, I don't think I would have more than one in a sitting.

I wanted to try the Not Your Fathers Root Beer that everyone has been talking about, but it is hard to find here in Eastern Michigan. I ran across this stuff instead and it is pretty good. It's kinda sweet though, I don't think I would have more than one in a sitting.

To me it tastes just like you're having a regular root beer can't even taste the alcohol. I did try making a frappe with it and I could taste the alcohol in it (more than having it from the bottle or a glass) and the frappe didn't taste good at all. I made it with regular plain vanilla ice cream.

I've never had the Coney Island stuff, but I can vouch for the Not Your Father's. I wouldn't ever want to drink more than a few in one sitting because they're so sugary and sweet, but it definitely tastes just like root beer.

All this hard root beer talk and no mention of Mission's and it's 7.5 ABV?

It's a Cali brewery so I assume that's why.

Not a fan of it either. Not a fan of most of their stuff. Their main advantage is their brewery/Tap room is right outside Petco Park and they usually have smokin hot talent in short skirts pouring beers there.

I'd heard from one friend that it had a lot more spice and bite then Father's or Coney. I assumed she mean the higher alcohol. But if it's got licorice at all I'll pass. Gross.

I've never had the Coney Island stuff, but I can vouch for the Not Your Father's. I wouldn't ever want to drink more than a few in one sitting because they're so sugary and sweet, but it definitely tastes just like root beer.

I grabbed a 6 of Not Your Father's Root Beer over the weekend. It does taste JUST like root beer (a good root beer) right up to the miller lite style after taste. To some that might be fine, but it really threw me off. I can't even have ice cream and drink beer so that combination really wasn't working for me. I couldn't even finish one.
