Yea I had Third shift for the first time about a month ago and didn't really care for it. Funny I just had this conversation like 3 nights ago when my buddy showed up with some asking if I tried it yet.

Last night I decided to make some black and tans. Guinness & Harp

Or half and half depending on where you are in the world (some places it's guinness and bass for a black and tan). I've tried it with Smitty's, WoodChuck, etc. Nothing will ever be better than just plain ole Guinness.

The reason I flew to Ireland to drink it at the brewery. Was heavenly.

Drinkin some Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA this weekend in OC. There was several 18 oz bud light bottles when I got here plus a Yuengling, so that held me over til I could make a run.

                In my Hop-head opinion:

A+ for labeling (all their beers have awesome packaging)
C- for taste...it's just not hoppy enough. Then again, I'm spoiled by the triumvirate of Surly Abrasive/Wet/Furious here in MN.

That's actually what I like about it. I'm a fan of the heavy IPAs too, but sometimes I want something lighter but still with some flavor... and hops. I might drink one Arrogant Bastard to every three Brew Free or Die's.

Just had Surly Furious on tap about a week ago. I really enjoyed it! Definitely starting to acquire a taste for IPA's.

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread

Was in Charleston, SC over the weekend. Tried some local brews....and found an all-time favorite:

Mexican Cake by Westbrook Brewing Co. Imperial stout with chocolate, vanilla, etc. but also with habanero peppers. I didn't really taste the peppers but I felt em with a nice, steady burn.

                      Other nice brews:
Pale Ale by Palmetto Brewing Co.- just a nice solid APA
Bearded Farmer #3: Thomas by Westbrook Brewing Co- very well done Saison, bready with a bit more pepper than typical
Pluff Mud Porter by Holy City Brewing Co. - typical porter, but more carbonation that typical (I think) which gave it a lighter mouthfeel

Only beer I had I didn't care for:
Slanted Porch Pale Ale by Holy City Brewing Co.- more bitter than I cared for in an APA, just had more of a pine taste to me as well

Pairing these with some of the really nice restaurants in Charleston (Husk, FIG, Magnolias, High Cotton) was ridiculous

The only thing I absolutely cannot stand in beer is when it is infused with hot peppers. I like spicy food, but keep it away from my beer please.

It was my first time having a beer with peppers, because previously I had viewed it as a gimmick. This beer was so well done it just went perfectly for me. I like chocolate and habanero popsicles so the pepper in this situation made sense (randomly putting peppers in an IPA, for example, makes no sense). But I definitely can see it being a "love it or hate it" situation.

Yeah, that's all I've seen so far is pepper randomly added to a couple different styles. One of the breweries in my city does it once a year. Definitely didn't work for me, but I know a lot of people who like it.

Having the Pyramid Discord...A Winter Dry Hopped DARK IPA...very interesting flavors here...There's ONE HELLAVA FIGHT going on in my mouth...roasted malt, caramel, toffee, and chocolate vs Grapefruit and pine come next to round it out. The finish is tangy with peachy citrus that carries through to the finish.'m Diggin this fo sho. One of the best Pyramid beers to come along in quite some time...I think
