Man up. Abrasive Ale has a 120 IBU and tastes better. /Minnesota homer

Does anyone use beermenus.com? How accurate is the "find this beer" option? I looked up Hoptimum and Abrasive Ale. The closest listing for Hoptimum is 114 miles away, and Abrasive Ale had zero results.

Not at all. I typed in a few beers I can get on tap in several places within a mile from my place and the closest listings were still over 100 miles away. That site is worthless IMO.

          Totally!

Though I'm wondering if I can even find Hoptimum in the TC...haven't seen it yet.

            You should. It's in Duluth.

What's the strongest ABV beer you guys have tried?

Was looking up Dogfish Head 120 and saw it was 21% ABV (listed at 18% on another site) and it reminded me of Sam Adams Utopia, which I've never been able to find and probably can't afford anyway.

It made me curious and I looked up the top ABV beers and apparently there's a "Brewmeister Armageddon" beer from Scotland that claims 65% ABV. This kinda seems impossible to me since that's 130 proof right?

Also, just a heads up if anyone was planning to look up the Brewmeister website, one of their beer names is NSFW

I thought that true "beer" has a maximum ABV, and that it's a lot lower than what that Scottish brewer is claiming.

There's no rules, but IMO once you start distilling (even freeze "distilling") you aren't making beer you are making malt brandy.

BTW, it looks like that Brewmeister Armageddon's claim of 65% is BS.

Highest I've had are likely the utopias, which are just south of 30%, which is probably as high as you can get without freezing water out or something and moving it out of beer territory.

It was nice to see fall beers back on the shelf last week. I can`t get enough of fall beers.

Read this book while on vacation this week, I highly recommend it:

Great overview of the history of beer and all the different styles. Unless you are already an experienced home brewer or a certified taster, you will get something out of the book

I'm excited for Sierra Nevada Tumbler to hit the shelves. It was probably my favorite beer that I tried last fall. Perfect for throwing a few back at night.

Just tried Sam Adams' pumpkin beer. I do not like Pumpkin and I can't get into pumpkin beer. I try about 6 different ones every fall and the outcomes never change.
