Re: I buy so much crap i dont "need"

this is a great topic. i buy so much crap it's ridiculous.

i have a perfectly good 6.1 receiver but i had to have all the latest HD codecs and 7.1 so i bought a $400 receiver a couple of weeks ago from CC. i unpacked it and it's just sitting on my wet bar at home - i haven't hooked it up or even plugged it in. why the hell did i buy it if i'm too lazy to hook it up?

i had a DS and never played it. I wanted a PSP, so i traded it in, but 6 months later i wanted a DS, so i just went and bought one. now i have a DS and a PSP that i don't play.

i have all 3 systems but i hardly ever turn on my 360. sounds like a '42 Packard when I try to play it. the damn thing gives me a headache with all the wheezing it does. why do i need 3 systems when i have so many other things to do?

i have a ton of games for all these systems that i never play and at least 5 DVDs on my shelf that aren't even OPENED.

i have 2 health club memberships, but i work out maybe twice a week. we have a membership to the local botanical gardens and we have been maybe 3 times. to top it off we have a lady that cleans our house twice a month. that costs like $180/month. of course that i don't mind as much because at least the house is clean and my wife doesn't have any excuses not to get down. :P

This is the reason I stopped buying DVDs several years ago. I was never watching them.

Our cable bill with NFL Sunday ticket was $185 a month............wow, I think I threw up a little bit in my mouth typing this out.

We have savings and stuff, but man, it could be so much more if we just cut out half the crap....

        Cable $1500 yr
        Going out to eat $3600
        Video Games $1300 a yr
        Sporting events $ 800 (going to Cubs/ND games )
        Chew(Grizzly-can a day ) $750 a yr

        NFL SUnday tix $350 w/HD
        MLB Extra Innings $200 yr

Man, Suzie Orman would kick my *** into the ground. I should copy and paste this, and email it to my Wife at her office, so she can see what a bunch money wasting fools we are. The only good part of any of this, is that we use cash for most of it, and really limit our use of credit cards. We have 8 of them, but 6 have 0 balances.
A tin of chew a day? How do you find the time? Your wife doesn't get on you about that?

why in the hell do you have TWO gym memberships?

i just recently started going back to the gym after about a 5 month break due to dislocated shoulder, but in those 5 months i just canceled my memebership.

im not about to pay for that when i dont even go thats a pure waste of scrills.

idk man it's like i've run out of money to spend on things lol. yeah it was stupid but it seemed to make sense at the time, we moved and i got a membership at a gym that was closer to the new house. i just realized this weekend though that i could drive 10 extra minutes and be at the old place. i'll get around to canceling it one of these days lol.

Oh yeah, she gets on me all the time. I have chewed for 14 years, and have become very good at concealing it, even in my office. As I type this though, today is my first day of quitting. A good frind of mine have both chewed since we played baseball in college, and we are both quitting at the same to to help each other out.

Its a horrible way to start out, but it sure teaches you a lesson Dave....doesn't it? Like I said, most of the stuff we buy now is just straight cash, or some cash, and some credit.

I do buy a lot of games that I know I don't get use out of. But I have also saved a lot of money. However I freely admit I'm a techno window shopper. I spend hours a week researching new things to buy. Although I don't buy stuff everytime I read about it I probably buy more than I should. I can't really help it though, I love new gadgets.
