Snakes?

Does anyone own a pet snake? I think I'll probably get one at some point, but I'd want something that's not going to get huge and kill me. If so, what would you suggest?

Some people can't deal with spiders, I can't deal with snakes. Sometimes I have dreams where they are everywhere, falling out of the ceiling and trees, covering the ground. When I see one in the wild, no matter what kind it is I take every opportunity to destroy it.

I feel the same way about stray dogs. When I see one loose I usually pull out the .45 and put it down.

I say kill it. I hate all snakes. Though a Cobra would be cool. Until it ****ing kill you then the coolness it not quite the same.

Probably something that's four feet or less in length when full grown, unless you're content with it chilling in the tank the whole time. Just make sure if you are to take the snake out of the tank to hold or showoff or whatever that you make sure to seal the tank when you put him back inside.

A friend of mine had a snake tank inside a bar he built in college. He put two pythons in there and was constantly taking one out to showoff to girls and whatnot. One night after many drinks, the tank wasn't sealed properly and a snake escaped. Two days later, through some trail and error, we discovered he had wiggled through the heater and into the wall, which was not wide enough to fit the snake. So yeah, you can imagine how much fun it is trying to pry an angry, stuck python out of a wall.

I seen this one snake, I wish I could remember what it was called though. It was like a crimson red color. It only got about 6 inches long. It was awsome holding it. I was like holding a rough worm.

I had two corn snakes years ago. One ate the other and then died about 4 years later after it had gotten huge.

My opinion though, I really don't understand the "reptiles as pets" thing. Especially venomous snakes, but even just regular ones, lizards, etc. You don't pet or cuddle with them, they don't really play games, etc. Just not something I get.

I can understand those as kind of a "living decoration", but I'm not a fish person either...Fish usually do look a lot cooler than snakes or lizards, but it's a lot of work keeping the water clean/circulated, etc.

Why would anyone want a pet that lacks the capability to love you? I am in the boat that the only good snake is a dead snake, which is why we have ferrets as pets.
