Re: Snow in Georgia !
Don't think we'll get much here in the capital city. Last forecast had the Triad getting 5-8", and the Triangle getting about 2-5". It started snowing here not too long ago, and I don't think it's gonna stick. Schools are already on a two hour delay tomorrow. Crazy thing is that it's supposed to be in the 70s by the weekend.Comment

Re: Snow in Georgia !
I just got back in from outside measuring our snow. Here's what we have:
Grass: 6" on the dot
Cement: A shade under 4"
I didn't go out into the street, so I'm not sure how much is out there, but I imagine it's a bit less than the cement, probably 2-3 inches.
It's still snowy lightly and there appears to be potentially more snow on the way. It's a beautiful winter wonderland out there!
Our temperature is at 29.7 BTW.Comment

Re: Snow in Georgia !
Alright, here's some uploaded pictures that I took just after 11:00 AM. I'm not exactly an expert photographer, but here's some pictures in and around the yard from High Point's biggest snowfall since 2004 (and maybe the biggest March snowstorm since the Superstorm of 1993:
Here's a view looking out of my garage. I've already snowplowed the driveway, so that's why there's nothing there. The roads are starting to melt, but with temperatures potentially hitting all-time March lows tonight (our record is 5 and we're heading into the single digits, at least), so black ice will surely be a problem tomorrow.
Here's a view of where I put basically all the snow on my driveway. That's about 4-5 feet of snow right there piled up. Later this month, I can throw some snowballs at my neighbors and they won't have anything to fire back.
Haha, I wouldn't do that, but this snow pile will likely be sticking around until maybe April.
Here's just a view from outside my garage looking to the left.
Here's a view of an unplowed section of my driveway off to the side of my house where we have a car pad.
Here's just a view out in my backyard.
Here's a view of how the heavy wet snow draped the trees and produced some very picturesque scenery.
Here's a view of my neighbor's yard.
Here's a look at my deck.
Here's just a view of my backyard and the snowy winter wonderland that it is for now.
And, finally, here's a view of the swing and a couple of chairs out back draped in the snow.
All in all, this has to be some of the most beautiful snow I've ever experienced. It was wet and it came down heavy, so it stuck to nearly everything and piled up very fast. This is definitely one of the most satisfying snowfalls I've ever experienced. Too bad the high angle of the March sun will melt it in no time. I'm sure we'll still have snow left tomorrow as our temperatures are only going to climb into the middle 30s, at best, today and tomorrow, but the sun will eventually melt the parts not in the shade over the next few days.Comment
