Anyway, whoever said check UPS, do that. They pay the people who sort packages fairly well and are pretty flexible.

I did that as one of my 3 summer jobs while in college.=)
As a career it's not, but if you are working and going to school or working in the summer it is a decent wage.

          Get your personal training certification.

You can't beat making anywhere from 45-75 dollars an hour. Been doing it part time or full time since I was 20. Even when I was in Scrap brokerage, I was making an extra 2000 per month training my clients in the afternoons and on weekends, on top of my pay from my full time job.

He would get paid less than he is now while having much less flexible hours.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I've been thinking about doing that. Don't you have to just go to some class for a while to get it?

Some you can do online then go take a test at a testing site.

That's all I did. I studied a manual, then went and took my exam at a site in Athens, Georgia.

Go to work at a gym, get your name out there, pick up a few clients, and you're set.

I have clients that have been with me for almost 10 years, even when I switched careers they kept in touch and eventually came back and trained with me again.

Become a certified basketball official. Sub varsity games are usually an hour and pay $54 a pop. After three years you can do varsity HS games at $90 per. Good luck finding another part time job that pays you that.

Package Handlers receive an hourly rate of $8.50 – $9.50. UPS part-time employees also receive an attractive benefits package. Please note that these opportunities are part-time only working approximately 17 1/2 – 20 hours per week. Employees can expect to take home between $110.00 and $150.00 each week after deductions have been taken for taxes, etc.

                        Pay is pretty low...

Yeah I worked for UPS and it was horrible. The hours aren't flexible at all, you get one 10 minute break the first hour, and it's just a really boring job. I felt like a robot working there. It is a pretty good workout if you're sorting the big packages though. I would be sweating like I just finished playing football.

I heard they let you listen to an iPod or MP3 player while working. Is that true?

I didn't have my iPod when I worked there but I never saw anyone listening to anything and I don't remember them telling us if we could have one. I don't think they would've let you though cause we couldn't have any electronics with us for some reason. We had to go through a security station and if we had phones or anything they would take it and hold it until we were done working.

I guess Lowe's and The Home Depot start out at around $9 an hour, which isn't bad for a college kid looking for a part time job. I tried to get into both, but no dice.

There's also this telemarketing sort of place in town that pays like $9 an hour, but you have to work 3-11 or 4-12, even if you're part time. In other words, nothx.
