Re: Earth Hour
I thought you are also supposed to unplug all electronic devices too. They suck up more power being plugged in and not in use then a light that is on -

Re: Earth Hour
Instead of one hour at 8:30, I'm going be proactive and wait until 11:00 and turn mine all off for seven straight hours.Comment

Re: Earth Hour
The Earth Hour concept is a good idea in theory but in practice well...It doesn't work at all. If they really want to make an impact make it Earth Week....Then again there'd be rioting in the streets if we had no power at all for 7 straight days.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Earth Hour
I'll make sure I turn every light on in my house during this event. Maybe get some flood lights, too, and shine them out in the street.
Naw, not really, but I won't be paying any attention to this. It accomplishes absolutely nothing and is stupid. You're not even really saving any pollution from happening because the pollution comes from the power plant, which will still be cranking away, so your turning your lights off does nothing to conserve.Comment

Re: Earth Hour
Seems like it would cause something to go wrong.
The energy use is down for that one hour, then right at 9pm millions of lights are simultaneously turned back up.Comment
