So, I'm thinking about getting back into this game and was looking for some pretty basic pointers:

-What sites?
-Profile tips?
-Pictures to add
-Messaging

I haven't had to do this avenue in awhile and I'm sure stuff has changed as its gotten even more popular than it was.

A few of my friends have started using Tinder. It's an app and it pretty much brings it down to the lowest of levels. You log in with Facebook (It doesn't make this public) and you can select up to 8 photos I believe. It uses people who live in your area and it boils down to someones picture popping up on your phone, if you think they're hot you like them, if not you move along. Then if theres a match and two people select one another it notifies you and you can begin talking.

Personally I just got back into OkCupid. I'm still a little timid about people knowing that I "online date." I know if I use Tinder I'm bound to run into someone I know, or even bump into them when I go downtown. Eventually I'll say screw it and sign up.

The beauty of someone finding you on one of those sites (if you're ashamed) is that person has to be on it too to find you.

I'm guessing that he's talking about to his friends (or family) in terms of explaining how they met.

Yeah, I just started using Tinder as well.

Grouper is one thing, but I feel really lazy using Tinder. It really is the most shallow, superficial dating services you can use. .

I actually found out about Tinder through that Cali girl on our Grouper.

Ok boys I just singed up to POF and so far it is ok. Got one issue/question? Many girls keep saying they are not catfishing, should I trust that or not? I have a feeling they are trying to get you to trust them before a troll fest begins.

I use Plenty of Fish and OkCupid and have found they are probably the better of the free dating sites. As a matter of fact I've actually seen quite a few good looking girls in your neck of the woods. They're just a little too far out of the way for me to make a run at them though lol.

As far as messaging, I've always used the approach of targeting something specific about their profile to try and make it personalized.

If she seems really interested you have to get that number quick. If you don't, you can bet that 10-20 other guys already have and she's forgotten about you.

Tinder in particular sounds pretty promising, but this is my first foray into online dating.

Yeah I thought the same thing (and trying to get a reply quicker)..when I asked she said she wasn't comfortable giving her # yet and she doesn't have a Facebook. which made it even more frustrating

That's a good point...

Though I wouldn't necessarily want to be facebook friends with someone I've just chatted with while online dating...I dunno, I know I'm not as into adding random friends, just wouldn't want all these possible dates on my friends list lol.
