In all seriousness, I can see your dilemma. You don't want to possibly put yourself out there when you're not were you want to be. Also you don't want to be deceitful (even though women do that ish all the time).

    That's a tough one....

I think would go ahead and post some current pics, I mean what does it really hurt? Besides YOLO!

In the meantime, you should start eating right and get in the gym so you can get back down to your "fighting weight".
I agree. I'd either take a break from dating to concentrate on getting in shape, or I'd do the above and roll with it. Be honest though, no one wins from meeting people who look drastically different than profile pics.

Re: Anyone try online dating sites?

You don't sound happy about the weight gain so I think you should avoid even bothering with updated pics.

You want to lose the weight and date women you think won't be attracted to you now, you have to work at getting there.

My concern is you'll go about posting updated pics and even if women reject you, you'll push it aside because it's just the Internet anyway and who cares? So let's have another fatty food because I don't care anymore. And then you balloon up further and continue to stop caring because you feel it's hopeless to even try. Lose 100 pounds? Too much weight. Easier to just keep eating.

Focus on losing weight. Focus on being where you want to be. I don't think you're depressed or anything but you don't sound satisfied. Perhaps you keep stopping because you're setting impossible goals. Don't look at that 70 lb number. That's too much.

First step. Eat better. Forget the number. Eat better. Feel better about what you eat. Remind yourself why you shouldn't eat certain foods. Be proud of your eating habits. Get that right first.

My personal opinion is too many people focus on exercise before they get the eating part right. It's backwards to me. How can you lose weight if you don't eat right? You can run miles a day and ruin it with bad food. And then when the weight doesn't drop, you don't see the benefit in running.

Let's start with eating right. I would even recommend starting a new thread and updating us. Seriously. Put yourself out there. Give yourself a reason to eat right by telling us how you're doing. If you lie to us, we may never know, but you'll know.

I don't mean to take this off-topic, but for me this is absolutely the way it is.

I can play basketball 4 days a week and eat like crap and not lose a pound. On the flip side, I can eat completely clean and lay on the couch all week and the weight will slowly come off. If I do both (be active and diet), then it falls off pretty fast, but if I do neither (do nothing and eat bad) I gain it back almost just as quickly.

Re: Anyone try online dating sites?

I just stumbled into this thread and its pretty interesting. I've never done any sort of online dating but I think I might start, because I am finding it hard to meet women that are in my age group and not morons, especially since I am a full time employee and full time student.

I've gained a buttload of weight the last year....
This is a false dilemma. Why are the two mutually exclusive? Why can't you post both pics of when you were thin and looked great, AND pics of you now?

Only posting totally current pics would suggest (especially to women) that you've ALWAYS looked that way, which is also bad. I think if you just mixed it up, and maybe even kept your profile updated as you continue to slim down, you'll get the best results, without having to be deceptive or dishonest.

So my mom's friend's son Dustin just got married a few weeks ago, and apparently my mom, her friend, and Dustin's wife decided they wanted to try and set me up with Dustin's wife's sister. She lives here in Lubbock, and she just turned 21.

The only problem is, I'm incredibly shy around new people, and to add to it, she's slightly out of my coverage.

One of my favorite quotes from Friends applies here:

You know how you always see beautiful women with some ordinary guy... you could be that guy!

But seriously, don't sell yourself short. She's only out of your range if you believe she is. For most women, confidence is more attractive than looks. There is a reason your friends are thinking of setting you two up.

This is just a dating question in general. Having recently gotten out of college I'm not used to dating someone who has a full time job and makes more than I do. I've pretty much always dated college girls who were always broke and I could get away with paying 100% of the time since it was cheap. I'm talking with a girl now who is a project manager so I know she is not hurting.

How long do y'all usually go before you finally let them pay?

As soon as they offer. Don't make an issue of payment, that's just silly.

I always offered to pay, but if they wanna pay their own way... let 'em.
