Re: Scariest moment of your life

Back when I was 5 almost drowned(was air lifted in a helicopter and everything) was in the hospital about a week.

Had a really bad asthma attack in like the 2nd grade I literally couldnt breath at all about another week spent in the hospital.

When I was about in the 5th or 6th grade me and few friends decided that we wanted to dunk on this rim so we took like those bungie cord things you use on cars that strech and have hooks on the ends. We had one side hooked to the rim and we were just gonna climb up the cords and try to hang on the rims. Yeah well not a very smart ideal for me anyway(it didnt seem like such a bad ideal at the time lol) so when its my turn on my way down the other end of the hook got caught in eye. It felt like I was hanging on that for 30 mins cause the other side was still on the rim so I really couldnt get it out. But I guess I got lucky and God was looking down on me or something cause the hook could have been facing the side where my eye is and got caught that way.

And a couple months ago I hit a patch of ice and did like a 180 in the middle of the road I didnt hit anything thankfully!

Re: Scariest moment of your life

      I have two

      1) Coming back from one of my friends graduation party. We were out on some country roads in the middle of the night and it was full of hills. I was talking to my mom about how short life is and as we were approaching the top of a hill there was a dodge truck stopped in our lane. We go around it and get to the top of the hill and as we get back into our lane some car comes flying and almost hit us. It was crazy if we would have arrived a second later I would be 6 feet under right now.

      2) Giving my testimony at church. I'm not a talk about my feelings person and I didn't tell anyone what had happened in my life. So to stand up in front of a big youth group and tell people that I used to be addicted to pornography and that I wanted to die last summer. It made me nervous, I had not told anyone about it before and I didn't know how everyone was going to take it.

Re: Scariest moment of your life

When I was a kid I crashed though a plate glass window. These are illegal now in homes. But when plate glass shatters it's like a hundred swords. After I ran though it, I stopped and examined myself.

I was bleeding here and there but I noticed lump in my belly area under my shirt. I lifted my shirt and my liver was hanging out. I was little and didn't know what to do. I ran to the bath room and took a bunch of toilet paper and ran it under the sink. Then I applied pressure to the liver almost trying to push it back it.

I also had a deep laceration on my arm that was bleeding badly. I walked out of the bathroom and boom just hit the floor. My sister heard this and screamed. Good think my neighbor was mowing his lawn and saw the whole thing. He called an ambulance immediately and they were there in minutes (right down the street thankfully). I vaguely remember being taken away and going in to surgery.

They removed half of my liver and my galblatter. I was in the hospital for a few weeks. I still have a big scar there and on my arm. I scared the hell out of my parents. It was my moms birthday (she was at church at the time). It was also my sisters birthday. It was also the day my grandma died. The date? September 11th.

          hahaha

We actually brought glow sticks that were supposed to work as "bread crumbs." The ony thing is we were dumb high schoolers (aside from the two adults with us... but they were kids at heart), so instead of leaving the glow sticks behind us, we tossed them ahead of us, went and got them, then tossed them again... like those pool toys basically.

I used to get lost in wal-mart when I was really little. That always scared the crap out of me. But I'd be with my sister (2 years older) most of the time so it wasn't that bad. And I'd always find my parents or someone I knew eventually.

I think the closest I ever came to death was when I was young, maybe 8 years old. My mom used to act in plays. Well, I decided it'd be a good idea to race my sister across the street. This is in downtown during the day so there of course is a little traffic. The street was only two lanes though.

Well apparently I didn't check to my right before I embarked on this race. I started sprinting across the road when a black Honda Accord nearly hit me. I assume I saw her in my peripheral vision and stopped in the road.

The woman hit the breaks HARD. She runs halfway over my pinky toe on my right foot. That is all. Didn't have to go to the hospital. Heck, at 8 years old I played it off like it was nothing. People were like "He just got hit by a car!!!" I'm like "man it's nothing. it barely even hurts." I didn't even wanna take my shoe off cuz I had on dirty socks.

Re: Scariest moment of your life

I really haven't had many really scary moments.

Probably the scariest one was a few days after my dad had surgery to remove melanoma. We were lucky that the surgery was successful and it had not spread to his lymph nodes, but a couple days afterward it began to swell. bad. It looked like there was a baseball on the side of his neck, and he could not move it at all. My mom took him to the hospital late at night because it became obvious it was really bad. Before that point we weren't really sure if it was just a side effect or not, but it quickly became huge.

So it was night and my mom was taking my dad to the hospital, at this point we didn't even know if he would live because it was pretty bad. Me and my sister hung out for a little bit, and then had to get some sleep with my mom calling us with updates every couple hours. He had to go to the ICU, but luckily he was released 5 days later healed. We were very lucky they were able to get the right antibiotics, and heal it quickly.

That's the scariest moment of my life, I don't know what I would do right now without my father.

I was terrified when I heard my dad had melanoma. I was relieved when it was all removed successfully, but then I became even more terrified when it became infected. It was kind of an emotional roller coaster.

Re: Scariest moment of your life

                  In no particular order

                  - waking up one morning and then peeing....only to find i'm peeing tons of BLOOD! I started freaking out because I knew my grandfather had died of cancer and the first thing that happened to him that started him on the road to his death was the exact same thing. I swore I was crying and screaming and everything. I was also in a lot of pain as well. Needless to say I went to hospital and peed about 4 more times with the same amount of thick and persistent blood coming out but it slowly petered out and disappeared. The doctors don't know what exactly it was but it could've been an infection.

Needless to say that's not an experience I wish on anyone. I kept bawling saying I didn't want to die like my grandfather and everything.

                  - Almost 20 years ago (Damn i'm getting old!) my family and I were picking up my relatives from England and it was a pretty brutal winter. There was a lot of ice and snow all over the place, well as my father was driving down the highway there was this huge truck going the wrong way on the highway barreling towards us. Everyone in the car started screaming for our lives as my father just BARELY swerved out of the way!

It was a brief moment but it was a scary one.

                  - Last but not least, being held up by some punk back in my school days. I was walking home from school when this guy with a knife came up and demanded money which I didn't have. Somehow through the grace of God I was able to run away and get out of that crazy arse situation.

Re: Scariest moment of your life

                    Have had several:

                    1) Horseplaying at the public pool when I was like 7 or 8. Instead of jumping out away from the concrete bank I jumped towards. Hit my head on the bank and almost drowned when I finally landed in the pool. My dad jumped in and dragged me out and rushed me to the hospital. Ended up getting a bunch of stitches and still have the scar on my forehead.

                    2) Getting diagnosed with malignant brain cancer when I was 14.

                    3) Going in front of the med school academic committee and telling them I don't think I can finish and that I'm leaving. Scary walking away from your life-long dream.

                    4) Falling asleep for a second while on I-77 and drifting into the lane with a 18 wheeler. Totally messed up the passenger side of my car with glass everywhere. Walked away without a scratch and no glass on the driver's side. Not a scratch on the 18 wheeler..***bbed against the tires. Officer said there was nothing for her to do since I acknowledged it was my fault and I didn't want to involve the insurance.

I only got a gun pulled on me once and it was at Syracuse University right after SU had just won the College Basketball Championship. Me and my friend were so happy we didn't even care.

Ive almost died a few times but they happened so quick there really was no time to be scared.

I remember when I first got roller blades when I was like 10 I was going down a Hill and didn't know how to stop. My buddy grabbed onto me and spun me around, right when he touched me a big pickup truck drove right past, if he hadn't grabbed me I would have been dead for sure.

I did almost get shot during a Army nighttime live fire. That was pretty nuts because I saw the red tracers passing infront of me by about 10 feet. Hearing bullet whistles are pretty scary too, but it really happened so fast there wasn't time to process what just happened. And thats the story of how my Second Platoon leader got demoted to working in the dining facility.

I've never been in a car accident. That's probably one of the scariest things I can think of. I guess the scariest incidents that have happened to me would be near crashes where we narrowly avoided get hit. I don't remember specific events, but they've happened before.

Actually, probably the scariest was driving home from our high school football's championship game (we won). I was with three of my friends, with one of them driving. He was going over 100 MPH racing some other girl we knew from school. I've always been nervous when driving with someone else, especially friends who always try to show off and go fast or skid out or whatever. But yeah, going over 100 MPH and of course, the other cars look like they're crawling along. Well, my friend is an idiot at times, but he's a pretty lucky guy. So we're cruising and I'm holding onto the seat in front of me for dear life. Then my friend doesn't see a car in front of him as he's looking at his blind spot to make a lane change. Since he's going so fast, he caught up to the guy in front of us so fast. But he didn't realize this because, like I said, he's an idiot at times. But we barely change out of the lane before slamming into the guy.

They thought it was cool. I nearly **** my pants.

I hate driving with other people...
I dug up this thread and my own post because... my worst fear was realized in late October. My girlfriend & I had a green light and we were crossing 4 lanes. Well, in the very last lane that we would have to cross, a driver runs the red light and T-bones us right in between the passenger and back seat passenger door going 45+ MPH (that's what they told us).

My girlfriend was driving. I was the passenger. By some miracle, I walked away with just two scratches on my elbow. The door had literally been bent into my seat. My girlfriend actually ended up worse off, having some pain in her back.

But it's the details of the crash that still haunt me, months later. I looked over a split second before we got hit, then it was like a surreal moment as we're hit and pushed. Then I'm staring out the window at the people who hit us. It felt like an eternity that I was staring at the driver and his passenger in the eye (the driver, a guy, looked like Richard Seymour of the Raiders... the passenger, a woman, had Marilyn Monroe-like blonde hair), and I could feel myself have this "Oh my God, what have you done?" look on my face.

It gets better. The people who hit us back up and floor it away from the scene. Even after being hit, I somehow have this crazy notion of trying to open my door to get their license plate number. Of course, my door is completely caved in and won't budge. But a good Samaritan chased after the guy and the police had him in custody shortly thereafter. He was piss drunk, on a suspended license, no car insurance, driving his friend's car.

That's not even all. Less then a month later, coming from the same way, we were almost T-boned again. This time, the person was making a right on red and didn't see us. We jammed on the horn and they actually backed up from their half turn. Needless to say, I had some choice words for the lady driving. However, when I got home I couldn't stop shaking and had to call off work that night because I pretty much couldn't function.

Is it possible to have post traumatic stress disorder from a car accident? Because ever since, I can't be in a car without freaking out. Which is pretty tough, because most of us drive (or in my case, are driven) every day. Anytime I see a car pull out just a bit from a side street or cars slowing down for a red light, my stomach just turns. I guess it doesn't matter, though, as I don't want to be medicated. It's just something I'll have to deal with and face every day.

Yes: that is a heavy impact in your life. You might need to seek help like counseling or a support group. Or maybe talk to someone you are close too that had something similar.

Re: Scariest moment of your life

I been in a park when a drive by happened, been busted by cops, been in car accidents but this one tops it.

I was 10 or 11, in Anchorage, Alaska. I was delivering newspapers and it was the winter time. In the morning it is pitch black and I was still using my bike with snow tires to get around delivering papers.

Me and my bro had a pretty big route, so we would make stops back at the house and reload papers in the garage.

This was a house a block away, no lights out so everything was pretty dark. I chucked a pretty heavy paper and misfired, missed and hit a MOOSE. The moose was pissed and started charging after me. I dropped all my papers and biked as fast as i could back home, and the moose is after me. Keep in my there was snow on the ground.

My brother was luckily in the garage loading up papers and saw the moose. I hustled and he started closing the garage as I got closer to the house, then I slid underneath the garage before the moose came behind and hit the garage door.

The moose did some damage to the garage door, but not too bad. i called my manager and they had no choice but to call the fish and game and took down the moose.

Well, didn't think it was scary at the time, actually laughed about it, but running over a mine in a gun jeep in Vietnam and it didn't explode, dragged it out of the ground and it fell apart all over the road.

Being involved in a very long hostage situation as a cop where the suspect committed suicide by cop at the end. Wasn't really scared then, as a matter of fact, so.......but looking back it was dangerous.
