    Really sorry about your house.

Gave your band a listen, I liked it. The only thing that put me off was that I couldn't really understand the lyrics. But I'm not a huge deathmetal fan either.

Well, as my peers often say, "If people can actually understand what we are saying then we just aren't brutal enough!"

Anyway, glad you checked out our stuff and got at least some enjoyment out of it. Some of our stuff has some nice groove to it in the breakdowns. Even after hearing and performing those songs hundreds of times some of them still make me bob my head.

No problem, bro. But if you haven't seen The Natural before then you should really check it out! It is an absolutely phenomenal baseball movie as I know a lot of folks here will back me up on and I am a big Robert Redford and Robert Duvall fan and they are the two main characters. Here is more info on it:

I'm still staying at my girlfriend's apartment, but the good news is that they came and removed the tree from the top of my house yesterday. I will post pics soon.

I am supposed to hear from the roofers and a masonry guy to fix the chimney soon. I think I may even have our power turned back on by Wednesday if all goes well. Who knows about the phone though? I also need someone to come in and fix the ceilings in both the kitchen and my bedroom from the damage that the tree caused during the fall. Hopefully this all gets taken care of really soon. I want to be able to sleep in my own house, damn it!

Tell me the insurance company sprung for an Engineer to take a look and make sure your structure has been weakened!

i wouldn't be staying there until they had an engineer sign off on it.

Re: So, a gigantic oak tree got struck by lightning and landed on my house today...

Fifteen days later and I am still staying with my girlfriend at her apartment.

It took the insurance adjuster 13 damn days to show up and assess the damages to my house. That is some BS right there. Those lazy SOBs.

The good news is that everything is covered including the tree removal, the roofing fees, the drywall fees, as well as other odds and ends and what have you. The total damages were in the neighborhood of $24,000, which I do NOT have right now and am so happy I have insurance.

I bluffed the hell out of the adjuster too and told him I was going to put in a claim for lost wages (which I really can't do with my job since it is entirely based on commissions, but lucky for me he didn't know that) and he cut me a check for an additional $2,400 (an extra 10% value of the claim, which they are allowed to do) for my roommate and I to split with no questions asked.

I guess you've gotta work the system somehow!

I still don't have a new power box put in though. The electric company is really pissing me off. I cannot live in that house without a solid power source, especially not with the electronics that I have. I just won't risk it. Even when I go back home I will have to sleep in the living room on the couch until my bedroom ceiling is fixed and I can buy a new bed.

All in all, this has just been a major inconvenience on my life for a few weeks, but like people have said to me dozens of times, "It could have been a lot worse."

You should get money for living expenses and anything you had to buy while you were not able to live there. I would make a checklist of everything that was destroyed or even just messed up, even your clothes that now may need to be washed if they were in the room. Also make a list of anything that changed because of living conditions. If you have to drive farther to work, having to eat out, etc. File the claim and get all the money you should depending on what they cover. That's why you pay for insurance.

I hear you, bro. I have been eating out almost every day and I am a vegetarian so it's not like I can go hit up the dollar menu at McDonald's either. And I pretty much need to empty my entire bedroom out and start over from scratch. My bed was destroyed from water damage, but I was in need of a new one as it was. I guess the $1200 they are giving me to pocket with no questions asked is right around the ballpark I would estimate that a new bed and all the take out food I have been eating twice a day for 15-20 days is about right.

You could have just called Harvey Up**** the alabama fan, he would have taken care of the tree for you.
