Random Vacation; Help Me Think Of Somewhere To Go

I am looking for a random trip. Probably the first week of SEPT. Continental US or Canada.

Throw some ideas out there and tell me what there is to do there.

What about Canada? What is the best vacation spot in Canada? TOR? Vancouver?
    Concrete evidence/videos please

Toronto is nice and there are things to do. It should still be somewhat reasonably warm in Sept. I heard Vancouver is very scenic but I haven't been there.

To me it all depends on what you wanna do. If you wanna hit a beach then I would suggest South Beach.

One place I really like is New Orleans. Still pretty cheap to visit, good restaurants, a lot of history down there, and a casino.

Just came from the Dominican Republic, not really trying to do another "beachy" type spot.

I am leaning towards San Antonio

Mark Cuban does not support your decision.

You can come to Pittsburgh for G-20 summit it late September!!

          hahaha

In all seriousness, it depends what you're into...

          History?
          Geography?
          Going out on the town?

San Antonio seems like it would be cool for history. The Alamo is there and Texas has all that cowboy stuff.

Have you ever been to the Southwestern part of the United States? Personally, I hated that everything was brown, but some of the geography is crazy. Grand Canyon, Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Damn (not necessarily geography, but still something cool to stare at).

Vegas is nice for going out on the town. TONS of stuff to do there, but it's all expensive. The nights are luminous and you can hit up casinos.

My parents love San Francisco. They've been there twice and always say that they would move there over anywhere else in the U.S. if money wasn't a concern. Nice stuff to do out there... Alcatraz, decent golf courses (I think), Fisherman's Wharf, wine country, etc.

It is a mixture of all 3. I found a hotel on the RIverwalk for cheap. Local cuisine is actually a BIG part of my decision.

I will go to San Fran next year or whenever.

For Canada, if you are into history I would suggest Quebec City.
              Nightlife, Toronto or Vancouver.

                    Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Nice, real chill and you don't have to spend much money up there.

Fits you perfectly, don't you think DC ;-))

Go somewhere in Colorado, like Vail or Aspen. Those are really fun places to hang out for a few days in the summer.

It's fun to hang out, shop, eat, and do some outdoor activities (maybe rent some bikes, go on some hikes).

I personally love Florida, i havent been to South Beach like someone else posted so thats where i would go. But you seem to want to go in the opposite direction. My dad went to Alaska before i was born and he said he really enjoyed it. And he stopped a few places in Canada that he said were really nice.

Seeing that you live in D.C., a trip to the mountains of West Virginia/Virginia/Maryland might not be a bad idea, depending on what you're looking for in a vacation. It would be relatively inexpensive and there are some interesting things to do if you're into outdoor recreational stuff. There's hiking, biking, boating, canoeing, hunting, history stuff, ect. The New River and Gauley River of West Virginia offer some of the best whitewater rafting experiences in the world and you could stop by and cross the second highest steel arch bridge in the world in the New River Gorge Bridge; if you were to push your trip back to October, you could even base jump off the bridge during the annual "Bridge Day".

The Appalachian Mountains throughout the WV/VA/MD area offer some of the finest scenery in the world IMO, especially the New River Gorge, which IMO is better than the dry desert that is the Grand Canyon and just as spectacular. If you like nature, then this is a great place to go.

But if that's not what your looking for, then don't go because if you're looking for nightlife and a big city, you aren't going to find much there!

I went to San Antonio last summer. (I personally didn't have too much fun, I had strep throat. But for everyone else it was a blast) If you go, I recommend going to the local six flags. When we went it was almost empty.

We stayed on the Riverwalk, what hotel are you thinking of staying in?
