Should your wife take your last name?

I'm channeling DC here but I saw a survey that said that 75% of people think that their wives should take their last names and some think that it should be a law so I just wanted to see what everyone here thought about it. I personally don't care, if she wants to she can but if not then I won't lose any sleep over it.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

This is the 21st century. No woman should be forced to change her name. If she wants to, great. If she doesn't, too bad.

Yes, you are. I thought this would be a DC thread when I read the title.

Anyways, I'm like you, I don't care at all. It's one of the many things I've never understood.

Only if I have to hold her purse.

I voted 'yes' but it's not that I think my wife should have to. I would like her too, though.

I do think the kids should (and I think they usually do) take the father's name, however.

I'm not sure I'd expect any woman to take my last name (pronounced "Ho" as in ho-ho-ho Merry Christmas, the garden tool, or...), and if she did in fact decide to take it that'd be something commendable in my book.

My vote wasn't in the poll..

Doesn't matter...what ever she wants to do.

I personally don't care but it'd be a nice gesture if she chose to.

everyone saying they don't care...I bet when it comes down to it you are going to darn well want her to

I would never MAKE her....but I would want a pretty good explanation as far as why she didn't want to or wouldn't. And I don't know, if she just flat out refused and didn't offer much explanation, it may end the relationship.

                    Just being honest

Eh, I don't even like my own last name myself!

I mean my last name is Fung and i'm not even Asian! So irritating to me.

Well why would you want her to have your last name?

Absolutely yes, unless she wants to be in a modern marriage where the husband and wife don't love each other.

Yes. If not, then game on, we have an open marriage now.
