I'm on the verge of taking the leap with this.

      It seems most everyone approves.

What else (outside of the program), will I be required to have ? I'm trying to calculate my total cost of equipment and the program itself.

I'm not really overweight, I'd just like to get in better shape and a few people at work have mentioned it and seem to like it.

You'll need a pull up bar, and dumbbells or resistance bands. Personally I'd go with dumbbells, even though they are much more expensive, they work better imo.

Total I spend $120 on the program and another $100-$120 on weights, pull up bar, etc.

Week 5, Day 2, good God. Chest, shoulders, and tri's absolutely murdered me last night. Ungodly amount of pushups, and had to do the last 1/3 from my knees.

Although there were plenty of TWSS moments in this workout: "Look at this girl, still working hard. She can still go deep even on her knees."

            Day 1 in the books

Half way through Ab Ripper X I almost puked and rolled over and laid there for the last 7 minutes.

So I'm almost done with week 3...looking forward to the recovery week!

A question for those doing/have done this: did you do a recovery drink? I am finding that my muscles/body is not recovering as I am sore/tired constantly. For example, I play in a softball league and I am having a hard time "Getting loose" before each game as I my shoulders/lats are just sore.

I did some research and found that chocolate milk (1% or skim) is a great recovery drink. Any thoughts?

I can do the dumbels or resistance bands, I'm just not sure about the pull up bar. I don't know if we have a door frame, inside my house, that will support it and that's my main concern.

I'm 6-3 225 and a standard pull up bar supports me on the door frame

I wouldn't, recovery week is pretty hard.

I did natural grape juice and chocolate milk for a while. I finally bought the recovery drink(got it off amazon). I love the taste of it. It's expensive, but you can get by with only using 1-1.5 scoops(a serving is 2 scoops). In a serving you get A LOT of vitamins and other stuff, so that is why I think you will be more then ok using less and making it last 30-35 uses instead of just 25.

If you are concerned about cost, a half gallon of chocolate milk is like $3 and will last you probably 4 workouts. So it won't be that big of a difference in the long run and you get more benefits from the recovery drink.

Just get a protein powder and mix a few scoops with water or low fat milk for post workout nutrition. No need to waste extra $$$ on the beachbody products when you can get virtually the same thing for less with a standard whey protein powder imo. Optiumum nutrition double chocolate is awesome when mixed with some LF milk.

Not really. The main thing you need for muscle recovery after a workout is L Glutamine and L Arginine. There are defintely cheaper alternatives to beachbody products, but the $5 bucket of chocolate whey protein powder from Wal Mart isn't going to have the same affects on your body. That loads you with extra protein, but it isn't going to help with soreness, lack of energy, ect. That stuff is good to drink in the morning to ensure you are getting a good amount of protein in your diet.

You do realise that what I suggested (Optimum nutrition whey protein) contains Glutamine and Arginine plus you actually know the quality of the product is good? Tastes great and is way cheaper than the BB products.

There's a reason why most serious bodybuilders consider it the gold standard in post workout nutrition.

Yep, that is the stuff that I bought. Can't wait to try it.

Week 2, Day 4... The dreaded Yoga X.

Man, I hate this workout. Yoga truly sucks. It kicks my butt and makes me angry. I struggle with most of the moves and forget about me actually straightening my legs.

The beginning of the work out is ridiculous. It's constantly moving into plank, downward dog and whatever else there is. I try, but tonight wasn't any easier than week 1.

I won't quit on it because I know it's important. It's just so frustrating to me. I felt like I improved in each workout this week, but Yoga is something that's going to give me trouble for a while. I am not flexible at all.

Oh well... It's over and I get a week break from it. Does anyone have any tips for improving? I am trying to stay positive, but it's tough.

                                Stop crying and man up?

Seriously you're a bigger guy and you might have not stretched for so long that you have lost most of your flexibility. You just have to struggle through it.

Years of not stretching aren't going away in two yoga sessions
