Re: P90X
I will conquer this weakness though.
Apostle back trouble is no joke man, back problems can be with you for life if you don't look after yourself. Take care of yourself man, not worth doing any permanent damage.
Maybe try power 90 like Bullit? It's a good introduction to p90x imo.Comment

Re: P90X
Week 1 Day 4 is in the books.
Did weights and sculpting today. It was kind of amazing, yesterday I could barely walk my legs hurt so bad. I mean they hurt, not just sore but pain. I was thinking about taking it easy today and cut back. But I woke up this morning and the pain was gone just a little stiffness left over. Hit play and rocked it out.
Tomorrow is cardio again so wish me luck . 2 more and week one is over.
Apostle, man take it easy back pain is no joke. Heal and when you get back into it dial it down a notch. Much better to build back up then do serious damage. You can do this. Not to sound like a commercial but if my chubby , lazy butt can pull it off I am sure you can to.Last edited by Bullit; 03-17-2011, 10:27 PM.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: P90X
Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I will definitely start fresh on Sunday (so my rest day can be Saturday).
I've had lower back pain for about eight years now. I've been told that strengthening my core will do wonders. I don't believe I have any disc damage or anything like that. Also, I think I just slept wrong... I made it sound worse than it probably was, but I was just trying to be cautious.
I am down 12 pounds, so that's good news. I feel like starting the program anew will be great for me. I know what to expect, and I can plan better... I did just kind of jump into it two weeks ago.
I am in decent shape and will get through the program. My back is pain free right now. I'm not going balls to the wall, as I know what I can handle right now, but I'm excited to jump back in.Comment

Re: P90X
Finished week one yesterday. Huge milestone for me personally. I feel pretty good and not at all as sore as I expected to be. Sunday is my day of rest and boy am I looking forward to it.
Now if I just get motivated on monday I believe I will be able to do this for the long haul.
On a side note my girlfriend has been doing it with me as some of you know. She has actually been doing a better job than I have. She has also been a great motivator for me.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: P90X
I DID IT. Started week two day 7 is in the books. Today was weights and sculpting. Couldn't do all of the push ups today. There is this one where you have to do 7 wide arm 7 close and then 7 normal. Did 7-5-3 this is at the very end of the workout so I was approaching muscle failure after 30 minutes of weights leading up to that.
I actually don't think I am eating enough so I am going to try to change me eating schedule and see if that helps. In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: P90X
I finally made myself start up again. I lost 20 pounds pretty quickly the first time around, and only made it through Phase 1 before I hurt my hip.
I'm healed up and ready to get back at it. It went well this morning. I'm finally excited about working out again. If I can just take the time to think out my meals beforehand, I should be in good shape.
Quick and easy meal suggestions would be very helpful if you guys have any.PSN: Koolie_G

Re: P90X
I've been running and getting out and playing more sports again to try to get back in some form of shape before I start this. I know it's going to kick my *** regardless, but I plan on being committed to it.
Again, I'm not really overweight.. I'd just like to tone up and get in better shape.Comment

Re: P90X
Two days in and I'm sore. I knew I would be, but I need to get the initial soreness out before golf really starts up.
I'm probably gonna modify some of the workouts this time. I think I'm going to skip the pullups (maybe just the wide grip ones) because I hurt my shoulder doing them the first time. Also, no yoga for me as my body doesn't really bend that way because of some bone issues I have. I will also be very careful about doing too many lunges and other exercises that put strain on my hips. I hurt them the first time around and I don't want to make that mistake again.
My theory is: Even if I don't do the full workouts, it is still 100% more than I was doing before. Any type of exercise is better than no exercise at all. I was in the no workout zone for far too long and it cost me 12 lbs. Those are coming off quick fast and in a hurry. #realtalkPSN: Koolie_G

Re: P90X
Alright guys, confession time.
I have not done P90x in nearly two weeks. I had to take a week due to my back acting up, and when I thought it was going to get better, the pain lingered... I played basketball tonight and felt great, so I will be starting the program again this Monday.
That will be a full two weeks off... I completed two weeks in the beginning, so I will just start the program all over again.
My back is funny. I can go a year without it giving me any problems. I think what did it was too much, too soon. When I began the program, I was really working at a high intensity/effort level. I didn't think I was, but that has to be it.
I am now pain free. I've wondered if the program is even for me due to my back issues, but I've decided that it is. I think my biggest problem is that my core needs to be strengthened quite a bit. That's what my doctor has told me; none of the damage is structural so I am good there.
Maybe easing into it a bit will be better for me. I hate to do it that way because I had a blast going all out, but maybe I need to save that for phase two. I won't dog it by any means, but I need to listen to my body.
Good news is I'm down 19 pounds in a month. I am getting ready to be in the 240's again, and that's great news for me considering I was at 265-270 a month and a half ago. My diet has been very, very clean. I've been eating around 1,800-2,000 calories per day.
Excited to start again... I could get down about missing the two weeks, but I won't. Things happen sometimes.
Moving forward.Comment
