    Re: P90X

How is the 'Abs Core Plus' compared to the 'Ab Ripper'? The only workout my friend does from p90x is the ab ripper, and she wanted something a little bit harder. I have Insanity too, but I've never done any of it so I could give her something from there too.

      Anyone doing P90X2?

I am two days into the third week. So far so good. My wife and I are doing it together.

The workout order is a bit different then P90X. Instead of going right into back and chest to start things off, the first phase seems to be a little more basic in terms of fitness and not so much into strength, which seems to come along in phase 2.

The stretching is longer and the workouts seem a bit quicker. After completing P90X and a few rounds of insanity, I am definitely heading into this in better shape than when I did the original.

I want to do it in a couple months. Seems like you need a lot more room and equipment to do it though.

There are always modifications, but you need weights and a pull-up bar like P90X, but it's also nice to have a yoga ball and some medicine balls. They also use plyo boxes, but you can use a chair.

How many medicine balls would you recommend? I have the yoga ball.

Gonna start P90X2 later this mth & want to have the equipment when I start.....

I have it too. I feel like it's more cardio/total body but the regular p90x has more power lifting. While you technically don't need all of the excess equipment I feel like you would get a lot more out of it.

The stretching is very good though. I'm addicted to the foam roller now.

I have P90x, also have P90x2... If I'm looking moreso to loose the waistline, you all think P90x2 is where I need to be? I haven't even put it in yet.

P90x2 is better for what you want but if you want to lose that waistline fast I'd recommend a cardio program like Insanity.

Nope. It's just an all out intense workout.

However, be wary of your knees.

Just started my second go-around of P90x this morning. Holy balls it kicked my ***.

I've gained back 75% of the weight I dropped after my first P90x experience so I'm hoping to keep it off and lose more this time.

Fix your diet. If you're gaining back 75% of the weight you lost, no workout program will keep it off permanently without a change in diet.

Oh I know. Easier said than done. Plus, I have thyroid problems and low metabolism so it's really easy for me to gain weight. I'm not fat by any means (6'2" 220lbs.) but I'm definitely overweight and out of shape. I'd like to get down to 190lbs.

I'm about to give it another run through this time with dumbbells. I used bands before and there's just no substitute for that iron.

ANyway, I bought some 10-50lb adjustable dumbbells off craigslist for $210 (retail at ~300). I just need to get the supplements and whatnot.

Have any of you guys found an adequate substitute for the p90x supplements? I'll definitely get the recovery formula (had a months worth my first run through and after I ran out I sorely missed it). Are Clif Builder bars good alternatives to the p90x meal replacement bars? They seem comparable in makeup. And what about the powder? $50 for a 60 day supply isn't too bad I suppose.

BJ's, Costco, etc are your best bets when it comes to buying protein powder in bulk. They have Muscle Milk (my personal fav), EAS and other well know products that will give you more than your moneys worth.

Even getting a gold card at GNC can get you deals if you shop at the right time of the month.
