    Re: OS Pups Thread!

I've got a Cocker Spaniel/Golden mix. He was a rescue. Found wandering the street in really bad shape, and he had heartworm. He was a couple of days away from being put down ... which is unbelievable seeing how he is now. I can't imagine having a better dog. I'll post a pic later.

I'd been feeding him Purina Pro Plan Selects Turkey and Barley since I got him. Purina doesn't have the best rep, but it's rated higher than most of their stuff. But about a month ago, he seemed to get tired of it. So I'm switching him to Blue Buffalo now (he loves their treats). He's got a little diarrhea, but I think that's because I didn't do a good job of transitioning. He seems to like the Blue Buffalo better though.

        Re: OS Pups Thread!

The bond between my girlfriend's dog (the pit mix) and my chihuahua is unreal. The pit is so gentle with my dog even when they play "rough". Honestly my dog is rougher on the pit!

The craziest part is the dogs must sense that my girlfriend and I are together. Her dog is protective of both of us against other dogs. The crazy thing: the pit never was protective towards the chihuahua...never. Basically if a dog were to walk up to me the pit (Bella) would stand in front of me and slightly show her teeth.

        I love these dogs!

T-minus 2 weeks until the TPLO surgery fun begins.

Somehow my dog managed to tear not only the ACL but also MCL so recovery will probably be a little longer than the 8 weeks. Got my Gamefly sub renewed since Im going to have to take a few weeks off to watch her all day.

Our lab had TTA surgery twice. His first ACL tear happened in his left leg. He jumped to catch a frisbee at the dog park and was wiped out by another dog. Two weeks after given the all clear by the doctor (which was about 7 months after surgery) he blew the ACL in his right leg wrestling with another dog at the dog park. In fact, the doctor stated that dogs that tear an ACL in one leg have a 50% higher risk of tearing the ACL in the other leg.

Good Luck with surgery! I do recommend putting Aloe on the leg if there is any razor burn.

Here a few shots the day we brought him home after the surgery on his right leg:

Thanks man. He loves her, but she hates him. It's funny sometimes, but there are days when she wants to bite him and I can see coming.

This is our miniature Dachshund Ginger. Not my name choice, my mom's. Naturally, she was hanging out on a sunny day yesterday under my mom's honeysuckle.

Thanks, my biggest concern will be keeping her from doing her normal routine since she's really active. Got the extra room set up as a bedroom since going up/down stairs is a no-go post surgery. I ended up deciding to do the surgery because of the potential of tearing her good leg up by trying to compensate for her torn acl/mcl.

This is the time I wish I had a 10lb dog to carry around instead of trying to handle a 75lb one

                              Cute dog.

One time I was with my mom taking out chocolate lab, Mocha, to the vets. At first Mocha was just laying there being good then this couple walked in with a miniature Dauchshund and she started going nuts whining and trying to go over and see it. Of course she couldn't get traction on the tile floor so she was just sliding all over the place, quite funny. She just wanted to play with it or she thought it was a stuffed animal she could steal (she loved to steal things and then play keep away).

I wish people would take care of their dogs initially so there wouldn't be a need to adopt them.
