Sorry to hear that Solidice, I'm sure you've got great memories to remember him by.
ROABS, great looking dogs. If I were to get a larger dog, I'd go with a boxer. I might always be a Boston Terrier guy though!

Re: OS Pups Thread!
I've heard boxers have a TON of energy. My girlfriend and I are looking to get another dog sometime in the next few months and we both want a boxer but are a little worried about not having enough time to take the dog to the park and get its energy out.
Anyone with boxers, what has been your experience?Comment

Now this was just my experience so take it with a grain of salt I guess. We got a boxer pup and had to find a new home for her after about a year. She was way to energetic but I think she may have had some mental issues too. There was no connection with the dog, it seemed as though she would be the same dog if she switched owners every other day. Example being when we handed her over to her new owners they said she never seemed sad or acted like she missed us. She ran into things and kept on going like she didn't even notice. She never took naps like most dogs, she wouldn't go lay down until we put her in her cage at night. I would take her out in the yard and throw a ball around and she wouldn't get one bit tired. Now I don't think all boxers are THIS hyper and crazy but it's something to think about.
Edit: Just remembered after we got her, other people with boxers said it was years before their's calmed down.Last edited by 8; 03-12-2013, 01:03 PM.Battle.net: xXKING08Xx

do you have a backyard? i used to take my boxer to a motocross track alot where i raced and he got to run around. i would def say the first year or two if you have a yard or small area to walk him that would be fine. i have a small field near my house i bring them to and just toss the ball to them for 15 mins or so and normally they are pretty tired after(maybe 2-3 times a wk).
best thing to do if your'e interested in a boxer is check out the breeder and go visit the dogs parents and see how they are. if you see the dog is 5-6 years old and still acts pretty crazy with tons of energy it may be best to visit another breeder. the parents of my boxer were somewhat calm the dad was a little energetic but the mom was pretty relax.Comment

Re: OS Pups Thread!
My dog Charlie is having some serious seizure issues again. He has has been having them for a few years but they were months apart. Over the last couple weeks they picked up and now he is having focal point seizures every few minutes. He bows down and and comes pack up.
We have had him to the vet twice this last week and they ruled out an obstruction, or any other internal issues so they are pretty sure its neurological. He has Valium, and has been on Phenobarbital for a pretty long time. They just started him on Potassium Bromide but the Vet said our other vet should have started him at a much higher dose.
Anyway. If you guys could keep him in your thoughts I would appreciate it. We just can't afford to take this any further. From what I understand, a neurologist is pretty expensive. I would do anything for him, but if its too much then its just too much.
I love him so much I can't take this.
Sorry, I didn't mean to bring down what is normally a happy thread, but didn't want to start a new one.Comment

We had a golden that had problems with seizures. After awhile we noticed she was having them within a day or two of eating people food. Not sure if that's what was causing them but I don't remember her having many seizures when that wasn't the case. Hope your pup gets through this, I know first hand how scary it is and how helpless you feel.Battle.net: xXKING08Xx

My 2nd Boxer mix is still a puppy but she's outgoing and willing to explore on her own. My older Boxer does help keep her in place if she gets too bat**** crazy so that also helps mellow it out.
Also, every dog is different (cliche I know) but it really is true. I've been lucky in that both dogs gravitate towards tug-of-war rather than wanting to chase a ball in the backyard so evenings are spent in the living room doing that instead of constantly going outside to play catch with them.Aaron

Re: OS Pups Thread!
I used to think my dog was having seizures and then I learned he was just "reverse sneezing" and the trick to making it stop was to plug his nose. I couldn't believe how effective that little tip was, it didn't always stop it completely on the first try but after a couple attempts it would always get the job done.
Hopefully they can help your dog without trying to break your wallet. Would be great news if they did a new exam and figured out a simple solution.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Hey guys. Just wanted to give an up date on Charlie. We took him to the emergency vet and they did some tests and she found out pretty much right away that is pancreatitis. She said this is good news because its treatable.
They are keeping him for the night to get some fluids in him. Also some narcs for pain. Lol.
The vet said she fully expects him to be ok. I hope and pray she's right.Comment
