I've heard boxers have a TON of energy. My girlfriend and I are looking to get another dog sometime in the next few months and we both want a boxer but are a little worried about not having enough time to take the dog to the park and get its energy out.

Anyone with boxers, what has been your experience?

Yeah, it depends on the dog. Our boxer just lays around all day, waiting for his momma to get home, and then he just follows her around around all day. He's not a real playful one. The only time he really shows energy is when I take him to go run or on a ride.


With that said, we think he was beaten by his previous owner, so that may have a lot to play.

Thanks King! I actually just called to check on him and he is doing well. Was told he is just resting and not in any pain. They still don't know if he will come home tomorrow or the next, but whatever it takes. I ended up getting some credit through this pet company for emergencies that they had there. It won't cover it all, but will make it sooo much easier on the wallet.

Im still really nervous about this though. I have a bad habit of thinking the worst.

Thanks for the responses guys. We live in a 2 bedroom apartment right now and there is no dedicated park area on the grounds. Emmie is pretty energetic, but she's a great listener so we can let her off of her leash and let her run around our building and she won't run off out of our sight.

I really, really want a boxer so I'll have to convince my girlfriend to hold off until we get a house or find some place with lots of room to roam.

I also always get my dogs from a pound or animal rescue. I don't go to breeders personally, so I've never had a purebred of anything. I love mutts.

Well Charlie is home and sleeping as we speak. All his symptoms seem to be gone and he ate well just a little big ago.

This is my little man Cooper. Now 7 months old. My fiancee and I got him in November of 2012 from a shelter. They think he is beagle/sheltie mix; however, he looks to have some dachshund and also has webbed feet.

Haha funny you say that because that's what I told my fiancée. He's beagle dachshund sheltie duck and the way he lays sometimes, part deer. Something very very wrong must've happened in the breeding process hah

We're getting a DNA test done so ill keep you guys posted when we find out (no not through Maury)
