I don't have a dog anymore, but here is our city's chief of police's dog, Tazer.

 Re: OS Pups Thread!

My wife and I adopted a 10 year old cockerspaniel from a rescue shelter in September last year. He has been a lovely dog but has had issues with seperation anxiety and aggression towards other dogs. With the advice of our vet we have that sorted through medication and routine but now he has started growling at us whenever we go near him in his bed and tonight has been growling at me if I go near him at all. I have never hit him, only raised my voice if he is misbehaving.

This is hugely concerning as we have our first baby due in September and I know that we won't be able to keep the dog if we can't get this under control. Our vet has suggested certain training techniques but it isn't seeming to work. It breaks my heart considering sending him back to the shelter as I know that he won't handle the trauma and readjustment yet again. Our vet has suggested that it might be more humane to euthanize him if worst comes to worst.

I've read a ton of literature online but I just seem to keep running into contrasting opinions and get nowhere. Has anybody here had a similar experience with a dog like this?Comment
