Re: 72 yr old Walmart greeter gets punched in the face

I worked at wal mart. I missed my 1st day of work cuz i drank so much the night before i passed out. So i went in the day after and just told them they told me to come in the wrong day and they believed it. They were always trying to get me to work full time and be a manager but i said no cuz a manager would get fired every month so i didnt want any of that. The way I quit was I just stopped going into work. Didnt call or anything. For the most part I enjoyed it. Alot of interesting things happen behind the scenes but at least you got paid an extra dollar an hour on sundays not alot but at least its something.

LOL yeah they considered Sunday as premium pay and everybody wanted to work on Sundays. But over all working retail sucks if you work in a big box store. Most people just dont realize how much work retail workers actually do.

I had many customers come in and say stuff like your job is easy, all you do is stand up in one spot all day. Which is very far from the truth. So being on the other side of the counter before, I never treat store workers bad or get upset at them for taking a long time to get something, especially a tv.

Because I know from experience, during the holiday season, the back room of a store be jammed packed with palets and it is very hard to walk back there, let a lomg trying to get a tv down from the bin. Because 1st you would have to move 4 or 5 palets out of the way, that is blocking your bin, get the tv down, then put the palets back, then take the tv out to the customer.

Like today I went to walmart and seen this lady being very rude to this walmart worker because they been waitng for 20 minutes to get a game out of a case.

Now this morning at Walmart for my area, if you bought a Wii you got a $50 gift card. So you had 40 customers and only 2 walmart workers in the electronics department. So I go to the lady and say its only two of them back here and dozens of us, so chill out.

I love how they get me to do a carry out, for a husband and wife who bought a trampoline. They want me to carry out this whole thing by myself, and when I asked the guy could he just pick up the one end a few inches he got all snippy with me. Just for specs, I'm 5'5 about 140, this guy was 6'2, 200 or so pounds. The best part, they get this trampoline, giant box and what not, and try to stuff it in the trunk of a Honda Civic. What made it even harder was the fact they had this dvd player in the trunk that basically made it even harder to slide it in. Before we got it in the car they told me they needed twine, we don't have any, stupid I know, we should at least at customer service. But the wife and the husband start yelling at me, and demand I go get it off the shelf, yeah I'm going to go steal product because you people don't have a car bigger than a shoe box to fit a trampoline in. So, I end up finding twine in the back of the store near GM Receiving, then I had to find scissors, and then I finally have twine and scissors in hand and they don't even need the twine, the wife had the nerve to say, "WELL NOW YOU WILL FINALLY BE PREPARED TO HANDLE CUSTOMERS"

I'm sorry, I don't work in sporting goods, I was just being nice and lent a hand before I went to lunch, which I should've done prior to helping out these two people. Not even a thank you out of both of them.

Don't every tie anything down for a customer, you could get fired for it. If you tie it down and it falls out, Walmart is now liable for it and any other damage it causes. Lowes and Home Depot have it, but they will only cut a piece for you and let you tie it down yourself.

I know that, I just got the guy a roll of twine and scissors, and he didn't even need that.

Oh I remember those kind of days all too well. They will buy something too big for they too small of car and look at you like you it is your job to make it fit in their car. I lost count of how many times I see people buy a 52 inch tv and be driving a 4 door sedan or a 2 door coupe.

I swear a lot of Walmart customers are A$$es. And yeah it is true they dont even lift a finger to help you load something in their car. They would just stand there like they royalty.

But yeah it is true. cant tie down anything for customers and technically dont suppose to be rearranging anythimg in their car either. Customers are sue happy.

Oh yeah my all time pet peeve was when customers would ask how much something cost when they standing right next to the price checker machine. When in reality most of the stuff in Walmart has a price sticker on it anyway, all they have to do is READ.

Except several of the "price checking machines" don't work properly, or the item is too big for the machine, etc.

You just have an axe to grind, man. I worked at Wal-Mart for a year and a half in high school, as a checker, then in housewares. I also worked a summer in college in the Garden Center. It wasn't that bad. I had fun, could talk with my girlfriend, avoided managers, and didn't deal with any crap as long as I got my work done...be it an opening or a closing shift.

While it wasn't in "Crook County", LOL, it was still Wal-Mart. Give it a rest.
