Re: Why is proper grammar dying on the internet?
1. It is the internet.
2. This is a video game message board.
So your standards are way too high. Dont stress yourself out over it.Comment

Re: Why is proper grammar dying on the internet?
I have a hard time taking anyone who doesn't use correct punctuation, grammar, and spelling seriously. Your opinions have to be expressed properly. Your point could be brilliant, but if you look like a moron in stating it then its all irrelevant.Comment

Re: Why is proper grammar dying on the internet?
the internet is serious business...
i don't use capitals at times, but generally my spelling is good. i know i have a great grasp of the english language, so if i rush things on a message board, i don't consider it that big a deal...cause it's still just the internet.Comment

Re: Why is proper grammar dying on the internet?
I was waiting for someone to say this.
Anyway, I always try to use proper spelling and grammar, with a few exceptions. I don't usually use semicolons, or a few other types of punctuation. All of the basic stuff I try to include, and I tend to save my absolute best grammar for the English papers.
However...
TALKIN IN CAPS WITOUT PUNCTUATON WITHOUT BREAKS AFTER PARAGRAPHS AND LIK A 5 YEARROLD IN GENEREL IS NOTACCCEPTEBLE.Comment

Re: Why is proper grammar dying on the internet?
One of my biggest gripes is when people type one huge paragraph with no breaks and it makes it incredibly tough to read.
I never point out people making errors in grammar though because everyone does it, but when someone types one huge paragraph I don't attempt to read it.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Of course, that's generally fine. Your posts are legible. It's when posts AREN'T legible because of the way they're presented that's the issue.Comment

Re: Why is proper grammar dying on the internet?
Reading these message boards along with others it has become painfully clear that proper English grammar is going the way of the Dodo bird. I have found this to be especially true amongst the younger posters (as in born after 1990) but that is not to say it is exclusive to their generation.
So I need to ask what is so hard about speaking, or typing in proper English when communicating with others?Comment

Re: Why is proper grammar dying on the internet?
Not about the internet, but I think the ' mark is going to disappear. For example. it's not gonna be Moe's, but Moes...etc. I see it more and more this way.My Specs:

Re: Why is proper grammar dying on the internet?
You could be right. The thing that is funny is when you have a name that has a "S" at the end of the name. How do you show possession with that. Example James apple. Is it James's apple?Comment

James' apple. I think you put the ' after the S.My Specs:

Re: Why is proper grammar dying on the internet?
EDIT: Beat to it.
One other thing that irks me is the improper use of "There, Their, and They're".
Don't know why, it just does.Last edited by Whitesox; 12-11-2009, 08:33 PM.Comment
