As for me, I'm 19 and still stuck here. Not to bad, friend has apartment 2 minute away that all of our friends have keys to so I basically do have my own place.
Lol. Yeah, they are pretty hot, but the last thing I'd want to be is that creepy step brother. They're also kind of rich and very religious(not that there's anything wrong with that). I just didn't want to start living with people that are the polar opposite of myself, regardless of their hot they may or may not be..
    Now, more than ever

Re: How old were you when you moved out of your parents house ?

I lived in an apartment with my girl at 18, but still technically lived at my parents house.

Bought my own house at 28.

I wouldn't say its harder living on your own. Different yes.

The biggest things are grocery shopping after work, sometimes you just get lazy.

Fixing things every single week in your house, and not having Pops around to help.

Realizing that you don't need to take a poll to change things around in the house. You just do it. It's funny cause ill still call mom or dad for an opinion.

If I knew something now that I wished I knew back then. Credit cards are evil. Charging what you can't pay, then paying the minimum each month will not get you anywhere. Charge only what you can afford to pay off immediately or at least within two months.

Well when i was ninteen i moved into an apartment at college and never moved back home i visited but never stayed longer than a week a visiting.

I understand some of you saying about school loans, but that the only way some of us could go to school . i was one my mother was disabled so all schooling was on me. so i have loans i don't regret it. it enabled me to get a degree. While i was in college my mom sent me money but i worked a majority of the time. so she only sent it when i needed it.

17 - went to college (had scholarships, so parents didn't pay for anything)
21 - grad school (fellowship, so parents didn't pay for anything)
            23 - accepted job offer

I would say about 19, that's when I started doing summer internships so I wasn't home for the summer during school break anymore. It wasn't harder for me, because I was pretty much an only child since my sister is 6.5 years older than me. Mom taught me how to cook, wash clothes, etc in high school. I guess having to pay for all home repairs was the worst thing...lol

Nothing wrong with getting loans...My point was that some people I've encountered act like you haven't accomplished anything if your parents pay for college...I totally admit I was lucky and that was way easier though, kudos to you for doing what you had to do and getting an education! I would have done the same thing if I was in that situation.

Scott, how challenging was that M Div? It's a path I'm considering

Dude it is brutal. I am not going lie. The classes are great and you learn a lot, and I mean a lot. I can explain the whole Bible and then some. In fact I was the top in my graduating class. It is great if you can do it. You can go the 4 year route or the 3 year route and get a masters in theology. The Miv D is pretty much a 4 year program. The thing that is great about the 4 year program though you only need a year after that and you can get your Doctorate. The thing that is funny about that is I am getting my second masters in education in February 2010 and it was only a year program and most Maters programs are only 2 years, but not religion. I guess they really want you to know it. Also Greek was hard, but Hebrew was harder. Mostly because the English language has a lot of root words taken from Greek. They don't have that for Hebrew. Hebrew was very challenging for me. Greek I did very well in. I say if you have the time then go for it!

I was a pastor for 5 years and then I had a hard time after my brother died, so I went back to college to get my teaching credential, which I am in the process of getting now. I say in about 10 years or sooner I will go back and get my Doctorate and then write a bunch of books. That is my passion and I have many Christian friends that are writers. Feel free to PM about more.

Yep, is that not sad! But thank god for a wife that is really good at that and spell check. But in all honesty I make a lot of mistakes, because I type real fast and never and I mean never reread what I write.

In fact I am really good at grammar. Not as good as some of the poster here, but I can hold my own!

But it is all good we all can't be Mr. Mom's.

I think I fixed most of the errors, but feel free to critique it Mr. Mom. And you should feel special this is the first time in my internet history that I reread something that I wrote and fixed the errors.

I'm 24 and still here. We live above the family business, so after high school (eight years ago) I kind of took on day-to-day stuff downstairs while I figured out what I was going to do with my life. That turned into more as my grandfather got older and needed more help with everyday things and has it's kind of leveled out since he died last year. I'm not needed as much for helping him, but I've moved up a level in terms of how often I'm left in charge of the business.

Would I rather be doing something else? Sure, but it is what it is.
