Giving 8 Hours To Those You Wouldn't Give 8 Seconds

Let me just start off and say that I love my job. For some reason as I'm driving to work all can picture in my mind is some of the people I work with and wonder how in the hell I gone insane.

For instance, I talk about sports all the time and no one ever seemed to care. Being a saints fan, yes I'm happy that their winning and all, but when in the hell did all these damn bangwagoners come out. People who don't even watch football are asking me if I've seen such-and-such play. I have the right mind to go apeish, but then again, I'm at work.

Maybe I just have bad nerves or something but do you guys hate...I mean heavily dislike some of your coworkers?

Man, I can not stand most of my coworkers. All they do is gossip, gossip, gossip. It's ridiculous. And yes, for anyone wondering, it's 80% female where I work at.

Yes but my situation is a little different cause I work in a family business. Being talked about behind my back constantly and the occasional cuss fight mostly between other family members has jaded me. Most people on the outside think I'm in a great situation working with family but most others who have worked in a family business know what I'm talking about. The best thing about it is also the worst and that's job security.

Definitely take the good with the bad, but I don't think I could be happier with my co-workers. In our department, there are 5 guys and 3 girls...all 5 of the guys are huge sports fans and we all play in the same fantasy sports leagues and go to lunch together.

One of the girls is just an awsome chick and the other two are super quiet.

There is litterally no gossip in my near surroundings.

The only bad part is often one of the males in our group says something inappopriate far too loud and we all walk out of his office shaking our heads, but thats about as bad as it gets.

The girls probably hate it because there is so much sports talk and no gossip talk.

That's one thing I'll never do. I've had people ask me why I haven't gone into business with my Dad, and I just look at them like they're nuts.

Anyways, I've been pretty lucky with who I've worked with. I seem to either like the people I work with, or in the times I've worked with people I don't like, managed to work a shift that doesn't have me working with them.

I like my co-workers. One of them was a classmate in college with me, so I've known him for a while. My supervisors (Tech. Lead and Project Manager) are both pretty cool, the other developers are kind of quiet, and the Business Analyst and I talk about sports.

Then again, I've only worked for about 6 months here, so let's see how it continues.

I feel ya but, your in Baton Rouge the ONLY thing to do here is watch sports. Plus, everyone here is Saints's and LSU fans. Except some are a little more "fair weather fan's" than other's. Therefore, people are going to be more interested when "their" team(s) are doing well. Which leads to more talks at the water cooler from uneducated fan's.

The only thing I can say is, be grateful that your a Saint's fan. At least you get to chat about "your" team.

                    I like my coworkers,

but I WILL NOT talk sports with them. I hear some of the dumbest things in sports discussions and it drives me insane and is better left untouched.

And bandwagon fans are the worst. No one at work even watches the Steeler games at this point and one person even proclaimed that he has moved on from the Steelers and is now a Vikings fan.

I can't wait until the playoffs when everyone comes out of the woodworks and are all of a sudden the biggest Penguin fans alive.

There is maybe ONE person I would discuss sports with.

OS has spoiled me with discussions because I pretty much come here for my fix and don't have serious discussions with too many people anymore.

I really can't talk sports with anybody at work and that's just fine with me.

Bandwagon fans are usually a good sign. It means your squad may be on the verge of something spectacular. I remember when the Pistons became elite around 2003 and it appeared every single person I knew suddenly couldn't get enough of the Detroit Pistons, as if they'd been fans for life. I was largely okay with that, except for this one girl who ALWAYS referred to former Sixth Man of the Year Corliss Williamson as "Scoreless Corliss". She said it every single time he touched the ball and it drove me absolutely nuts. . .because he wasn't scoreless at all.

I'm okay with my coworkers. I'm a teacher, so the school is about 90% made up of 50-year old women. I made a fitting reference to an episode of The Office the other day and I got two looks from co-workers that seemed to say, "We wish we could understand, but it was honestly like you were speaking a foreign language, so we'll just half smile here for a second then move on."

bandwagon fans are the sole reason i hate the chargers, they are obnoxious and think there team is the greatest, and then when you mention how theyve not won a SB, they start calling you s***. Then when there team loses in the playoffs, they all of the sudden like the colts or pats.

EDIT: Yes, Raider fans are even worse, but still

At my main job, which is male dominant we can all pretty much talk about sports but my part time side deal, nothing but ghetto *** bitches and its drama city.

Being in Charlotte, you got your Carolina fans that have been calling for Jake's head since the playoffs and then you got alot of transient people that are Redskin/Giant/Falcon fans which I can deal with since well, they're isn't much of a bandwagon to hop on.

Big mistake. Wish I stopped trying to please my father before I was 25. But life is a lesson and now we don't even talk. And I'm honestly happier that way.
