Where do you bank, and how happy are you with them?

I use Wells Fargo, and had a "bad credit checking" account. I was about to switch to a credit union due to the 10/mo cost of my WF checking and savings, and not being allowed to do half the things a "normal" checking customer would be able to...yesterday, they switched me to a "normal" checking account, so I should be able to bank normally (get cash back w/payroll deposits same day etc.)...so now I'm not so sure I'll change.

Everytime I went in there, they'd be like "have you spoken with a banker about getting an uprgraded account?" and I told them nothing has significantly changed since I opened the account (for like 4 months I've been getting asked this embarassing question when depositing) , and they'd frown at me be like oh , ok like I was ********.

Then, yesterday someone said to me , "That doesn't matter as long as you've been with us for a year you should be fine." Which nobody at any branch had explained to me. I'm just thinking, is anybody happy with their bank? Most people I know aren't.

I've thought about going to a regional bank, too, but that just seems like a bad idea.

Chase. Top notch service and never had issues.

Had Harris before and prefer Chase because of the fast processing, great online website and solid overall service.

RBC (which has branches in the US as well)

They're pretty good and i've been a customer with them for about 15 years. My first bank was CIBC.

I'm with Associated Bank. I can't stand them, the overdraft fees are criminal. I want to switch to Bank of America so I can roll over all the change from debit transactions to savings automatically.

Chase. Convenience and speed with how they do everything. When I was in college, I had Compass bank. Then I went to Charter One (Bank One). Of course, they aren't everywhere so I picked Chase. Love it. The charges and everything show up within minutes which is great. I hate having to wait to see what my account will possibly look like. Transfers are great.

One good thing about banking for a long time with a certain place is that it looks good on your credit score

I actually like them. They gave me overdraft protection and a credit card at 18 years old when I obviously had no credit history. And later on when my credit history was average at best and I was in the middle of switching jobs, they gave me my first auto loan.

Now that I'm out of school, it's a bit of a pain in the *** because the closest bank is 15 miles away, but the online banking allows me to do most of my banking from home...and I have so much with them now that I don't really want to switch.

Wachovia & Chevy Chase Bank (local bank).

I like Wachovia because you can have more than one bank card issued to a joint account.

PNC, they're okay but they could be better. They charge fees if your checking or savings go below a certain amount but they use some kind of code and don't tell you what it stands for. Once I had this "service charge type JD" and was thinking it was some sort of fraudulant charge until I went to the bank and they told me it was because I didn't have enough money in my checking account. Plus I have an ATM card with a picture of PNC Park on it and they charge a $10 annual annuity car fee just to have that.

Yeah, I like the fact that Wells Fargo is national. I don't like dealing with local or "small town" banks really.

I hear credit unions are solid, because of some "credit union network" where you can make deposits with any union. I just hate all the little fees.

I was in the same situation as you... I started with the college credit union... They had absolutely wonderful customer service so I didn't want to leave, even though I live an hour and a half away from their branch now... So I decided to keep my savings account with them and created a checking account with PNC/National City. Let's just say that I can only wish the customer service for PNC was the same.
