Don't have a credit card yet, been thinking about it because I'd like to start building credit by using it on gas and "normal" expenses, but no luck in the application process so far. Any suggestions?
Don't go crazy applying for credit everywhere. That hurts your credit (makes it seem like you are desperate). Try to get something like a cell phone in your name (wireless providers are usually lenient with people who dont have established credit). Pay your bill on time for about a year or so. Then try to get a department store card first (like Best Buy). At least that was my route. I didnt get the unsecured Visa until my senior year of college.

Yeah, I've only tried applying to a couple, and months apart. I'm in no rush, but I figured it would be handy to have some credit built up for when I'm ready to be out on my own.
