And, after watching the video again, those kids seem like spoiled pricks who deserved it. Calling the officer a "****ing moron," saying "we're gonna get him fired," calling him a "****ing pig," etc...and then continuing to pelt cars even after the officers showed up. They're the morons, not the officer.
Plus the fact he got nailed in the ear by a snowball. He never put his finger inside the trigger guard.

I just watched it again...There was definitely no waving of the gun. And those kids are complete morons.

Re: DC Cop Waves Gun at Snowball Fight!

After watching the originally posted video, along with two linked off of the article, I have changed the thread title again.

There is no "waving" of the gun (so I changed it to "pulls") and it was not because of the snowball fight.

End of story. We, as staff of this site, change misleading thread titles all the time. This is not a special case, etc. The thread title was misleading so it was changed.

I see no reason for the 1st cop to pull that gun. Second cop i have a ton of respect for. He handled the situation well and cooled the crowd down until the first one started ranting again.

Having a windshield broken by Teenage Punks throwing snowballs, If I had a gun I would have shot their punk a**es. Those kids hit the cop with a Snowball, thats assault, he had every right to pull a gun.

Not to mention he was incredibly out-numbered and if something went wrong before back-up got there we would have been over-run.

Pulling the gun and keeping it at his side is a perfectly legitimate way to maintain order until back-up arrived.

I agree...the minute the cop doesn't have his gun drawn is when some crackhead in the crowd decides to shoot him...

Sometimes cops do stupid stuff, but I don't really see the big problem either, especially if he's got stuff being thrown at him, you don't know what to expect.

I don't see any kids/teenagers in the video. Why do people keep saying that there were?

If you want to argue that point, that makes the crowds actions even worse. Mature adults would know better than to throw a snowball at a cops head, than to call a cop a "****ing pig"/"****ing moron" etc.

They look like college kids, to me, though, along with some adults and some teenagers.

I've never once said that the crowd's actions were in the right. I merely have an issue with a person in power abusing/being wreckless with that power.

When did he abuse his power? He didn't arrest anyone, he pushed one person back off the street, pulled one person from the crowd.

When was he wreckless? He pulled his gun and kept it pointed at the ground the entire time.

A cop "abusing" their power would have grabbed the idiot that threw the snowball at his head and thrown him to the ground, slapped the cuffs on him and kicked his ***.

A "wreckless" cop would've pointed the gun in the crowd's direction, flailed the gun around towards them.

This guy did none of those things. I really don't see what you're arguing because everything you seem to say is an exaggeration or an overreaction, in my opinion (and, it seems, to most everyone else).

Anyone who has been hit by a Iceball or a Snowball packed with Solid snow knows the feeling.

I broke a 16 year old's nose a year ago, Driving around when school gets canceled can be dangerous. Being Fat and throwing snowballs at cars can be even more dangerous

If you want to see how I think a police officer should act, just watch the actions of the first officer in uniform who arrives on scene. He handles the crowd very well, by himself, and doesn't get emotional/lose his cool.

How exactly was he abusing his power? I can tell you have never felt outnumbered by a hostile crowd, its not pleasant.
