2000- 7th grade. Obsessed with playing baseball. At this point I was playing spring/summer ball and fall ball. Fall ball was the best around here. Everyone who played had some talent so you didn't have a lineup that had 3 or 4 crappy players on it like in the spring/summer. Good competition only makes you better.

2009- Just finished up 4.5 years at the Univ. of Alabama. Next up is more than a likely a job with the Tennessee Smokies which I would start at the beginning of April. The ultimate goal of being a professional play-by-play guy is probably only a year or so away now.

2000: 15 Years old. first years of high school, first years "experiencing" myself. Drug addiction, good marks in school, love for music.

2009: 24 years old. Songwriter/Producer for Interscope Records and Disney's Hollywood Records. Living in New York City. Get paid to travel and record in studios around the world. "Clean" from any harmful substances. Loving girlfriend who has just moved in with me. Only downside is that I don't see my family much since they are in Montreal, though, I see myself opening up my own studio back home when the time is right. Life is good right about now though!

I like where my knowledge is at, but not where my debt is at from school. Fortunately my perspective on life has been molded very well and given those values, I'll go as far as I choose to. As far as relationships go, I have the first GF I've actually really wanted, and live with her. Good person, much like me.

                Re: You: Then and Now

Year 2000: I was young 13-14 year old with lots of social anxiety. I graduated middle school and started high school. My parents uprooted the family out of Milwaukee to some small farm area in Wisconsin. Combine moving to a new area at that time along with the social anxiety, and it equated the rest of my school years being ruined. Many bad thoughts going through my head at that point. My main hobbies were sports, pro wrestling, and video games.

Year 2009: I'm 23 years old and have overcome alot of those social anxieties. I have a girlfriend, a couple other friends, and a solid job. I didnt make it through college, which still haunts me a bit. Main hobbies continue to be sports, pro wrestling, and video games, with a couple added hobbies such as gambling lol.

When I think about it, I've come a very long ways this decade. But, I still have a long ways to go to become who I want to be. Ugh

2000: Sophomore in highschool. On the wrestling and lacrosse team. Extremely jacked. Straight shooter. Lot's of acne, slowly progressing into hooking up with girls and starting relationships. Living in the Bay Area.

2009: Just graduated from college. Living in with my girlfriend who I've been dating for the past 7 years. We knew each other when we were I was in the 8th grade and she was in 7th. Reconnected at the end of my senior year in HS and she followed me roughly a year or two after I moved to Texas. Not so much a straight shooter anymore...that ended when I started my junior year. Living off the muscles I built in HS...which are diminishing. Currently unemployed and looking for a job. Possibly proposing within the next 6 months once I find a job.

Am I the only person who would actually want to go back to 2000?

The 2000s were a decade of hell for me...and the country. Life before 9/11 and the economic downturn was so amazingly simple and bliss for me.

Go back to 2000? Hell no. In April I start my career in sports. My dream. The fun has only begun for me. Not to mention, my social life compared to even 5 years ago now is 1,000 times better.

And besides, in 2000 Alabama went 4-7. In 2009, we're 13-0 playing for the title

I wish every decade were like the 90s though.

Those were the days when my dad made money, my mom was able to stay at home and raise 5 kids, and we were actually able to take vacations in Hawaii.

I really find it hard to believe that that many people could have enjoyed this decade considering how terrible it was for most Americans. The 2000s were absolutely horrible compared to the 1990s.

EDIT: I guess it's sort of a NIMBY effect, sort of like how most people will acknowledge that the economy is poor, but will continue to believe that their own economic standing is fairly good.
