    New Year's Resolutions

With Christmas behind us it's now time to start looking ahead to 2010. I'm normally not one for making a New Year's Resolution however, 2009 was a year of major weight gain for me so, I know it's cliche but, my resolution for 2010 is to lose weight.

In 09, I gained about 45 pounds before I finally changed my diet in November. I've lost about 5-10 pounds since then but, that's not really good enough because I'm still about 20-30 pounds overweight. So, my plan is to lose 20 pounds by March and to keep it off the rest of the year.

I'm going on a vacation in March so, my strategy is to use a diet plan similar to the one Knight was using in this thread:
    http://www.operationsports.com/forum...-possible.html
combined with some walking/jogging. However, I don't think I'll be able to eat like that 7 day's a week so, I am planning on have one "cheat day".

Hopefully, I'll be able to have the will power and to stick to it.

Enough about me, what's your resolution for 2010? Also, whether your resolution is to lose weight, quit smoking, quit being an ***hole, etc. post it here. Maybe we can help motivate each other my leaving updates here as the year progresses.

    Re: New Year's Resolutions

My resolution is to reduce my knee-jerk reactions to everything bad that happens to me. I get so hot-headed whenever something goes wrong and I look like a damn fool as well (I am almost sure of it). Honestly, getting all worked up over something doesn't change anything so why bother. So for 2010, I aim to be a more even-keeled individual.

        Re: New Year's Resolutions

Considering my life changes dramatically in April with the move to Tennessee...

My new year's resolution is going to be one that is attainable and reasonable for someone my age. At some point in my last 3 months in Tuscaloosa I want to have sex with someone new(preferably the night before I leave so I can pull a Barney Stinson). And then at some point in my first 6 months there I want to meet a girl in Tennessee and go on several dates with her(sex optional but preferred).

Yeah, not really a New Year's resolution, but I did this last year, and its been about a year since I've had a cigarette.

This year I'm going to try to quit another filthy habit, biting my nails. I really hate that I do it, and I'm really bad about it so hopefully i can cut it out.

              Re: New Year's Resolutions

I'd like to lose 20-25 lbs. before the start of our minor league baseball season (already lost 5 lbs.).

I'd also like to continue to work on my g'd stuttering/blocking problem that has come back after being dormant almost 7 years.

I guess I'm the opposite of everyone else lol.

I want to gain at least like 5-10 lbs before summer. Other than that, the only other goal I have is to save enough money so that by this time next year I'll be living in my new place in Florida.

                      Re: New Year's Resolutions

I am a pretty much a goal orientated person and do well with the dreaded New Year's Resolutions. I think the following five are achievable and I will be disappointed if I don't cross them all off.

                      1. Back to the gym. I am a big bloke, stand 6'4" and hide the extra kilos gained pretty well. I want to get back to where I was when playing rugby league.

                      2. Manage finances a little better. I have splurged this year due to a successful year at poker. I could've invested better. Meh, you only live once but 2010 isn't going to be a repeat of 2009.

                      3. Look at changing my career (poker player here) and getting in to more of a routine with most normal people. Poker is great though something that can lead towards one being deemed anti-social if not managed correctly. I like the idea of owning my own business (a franchise?) or working outdoors again with mates. Time will tell.

                      4. Get a new hobby - golf?

                      5. Put time and effort in to around-the-house projects.

Congrats on that. I also need to quit biting my nails. It's just one oral fixation after another for me....

My New Years Resolution is to be more consistent with my music. I sing and I wrote about 10 songs in 2009. I recorded three of them and then got incredibly lazy. I know a lot of it has to do with the new schedule I'm working but there's definitely time for me to fit it in there.

I got a really cliche on as well, I just want to drop some weight.

For you guys trying to quit biting your nails: Carry fingernail clippers, perhaps on your keychain or something. Just keep them close by, and you'll use those every time you have a piece of your nail hanging that you feel like biting off. If you keep them well-trimmed and filed, you won't even be able to bite them. That's how I broke the habit.
