    1. Rugby should be higher and

    2. Rugby League is tougher than rugby

I've played both, league at a semi-pro level (paid lower grader up until age 26) and rugby when I was younger (15-19) to keep fit (played league saturday, rugby sunday or vice versa) - I speak with some knowledge of both you'd say.

Ah, Jim Rome. One of the biggest douchebags out there. Can't believe he's still around.

Yeah...I especially hate how Rome always used to hate on soccer and horse racing, but now he goes down on horse racing since he's invested in horses. It's suddenly cool now that he does it...whatever.

If beating the **** out of each other = most manly, shouldn't MMA be #1, then? More ways to beat the crap out of the other guy than just with your hands - I'd say that puts it over the top.

It's not mainstream enough, nor do people actually respect it. Oh well, at least MMA is up there and Amateur Wrestling is pretty close to that.

I could see boxing being #1 because people actually die every year in the ring. Auto Racing is more of an event then then sport.

I would think boxing would still be #1 if we use the grevious life long injuries criteria. Boxing has a TON of brain damage. MMA hasn't been HUGE (in the public's consciousness) long enough to see the returns of their careers.

I honestly saw some of the soccer arguments, and wondered to myself, "When will Jim Rome make an appearance?"

Wait, am I the only one wondering why Askmen.com is considered the reliable source for this information?
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer
